Title: GT4 hashiznit the shelves
Post by: oldraven on February 25, 2005, 10:33:19 AM
650 cars and 100 tracks  ..... nuffsaid..... ok, I'll say a bit more.

Got mine last night. They had just gotten them at Wall-Mart. There are about sixty coppies at the SEC, at least, there was last night. Don't expect them to last long. They're going for about $57 CAN.

I spent about an hour looking at every car in the dealers, and a good twenty minutes trying to push an F-150 Lightning around the Nurburgring. :giggle: It didn't go well. No wonder that track has killed so many. The truck was almost as wide as the tarmac.

Anyway, strange options in Aracade mode. You can adjust power ratings now without actually buying parts. :screwy: I'm not sure how I like that.

The Photography section is interesting. Unique, at any rate. I think it's awesome that you can pick lenses.

Got it yesterday, played it a lttle.  The quarter mile runs (400M) seem off considering the time was a 13.7 but with a trap speed of 128.  Graphics are top notch.

Got my stang to turn a 12.229 in the 1/4 mile run and it's only half modded,479hp i think.
Sounds like with that kind of hp it should be alot faster, maybe i gotta use softer tires.
334kph on the high speed ring.

Fastest I ran with my stang was a 12.555 fully done up,(634hp / 622ftlbs) on NOS, spinning the whole way.  Only thing I forgot to get is the soft tires.

Looks like I have to run out to my local electronics shop and pick this up.  I've only been waiting for 2 years for this game.  It's going to be the first game that features a car I own - a mid 1970's Toyota Celica GT.  Mine's a 1977, the one in the game is a 74 I think.

Only problem with your celica is it appears to be a prize car,  (and so is the 67 Cougar XR-7)  I've yet to find what race that unlocks it....

Cougar is unlocked by getting the Super license.

Awesome game, there is also a Taurus SHO which can somehow be unlocked. I have about 20% race completion and I have been playing for a while.

The SHO is buyable once in awhile in the Used car Dealer.

So far I've got it about 5% done. :P b and a lisence with three cars. 89 Skyline GTSt is my first car, and it's still my best. Got the Mazdaspeed Six (slow ass, and that's after the stage 2 turbo), and some 80's Hyundai concept coupe that I haven't driven yet.

Wicked fun. The Nitrous is AWESOME! Buring tires in 3rd gear. heh.

Easy Money
For easy money go to puppiesan events on the left on the menu. The sit back and wait. Race the event and win get 7,500 credits a race, 35,000 when you win the champioship. You win a Car a nissan 350z concept car which you can sell for 318,000 credits. this can take just under a half hour and you make about 400,000 credits. not bad huh.

Screw that get an Xbox and wait for Forza Motorsport More customizing options and real time damage.  Plus its on Xbox so the graphics will be better.

I am not going to get an xbox as a protest to microsoft. They can force me to use window(till I get around to learning linux) but I would rather go with a puppies console. even with as much as I love everything about the xbox.

Hell get both Forza and GT4, problem solved! :)

Forza looks good, but the graphics look pretty much identical. Does it give you body work options? They don't make that very clear.

Still, I'll take my 650 cars and 100 tracks.

Looking at the Preview movie of Forza, looks like you can paint several section of the cars body panels diffrent colours (Ie Mirrors hood).

I think the idea behind Forza is to build your own custom race car outta stock production ones. kinda like NFS:UG + TOCA 2
