well so far i installed the k&n filter bear got me for christmas...and replaced the lower hose after i forgot to turn the fans on..oops...i want to learn so bears teaching me aboout cars now.he said im lucky ididnt blow the head gasket so i guess thats a good thing

The G Marquis is getting a new tranny... Unfortunately came with the wrong torque converter, so the car is still on the lift... :(

Don't you just love parts people, they always pull and ship the proper parts.
Well I think I kinda been screwed... Trans was purchased from a independent rebuilder(ebay) in Fla... Tranny that was shipped came from Michigan and is a genuine Ford remanufactured unit(this is great I thought)...
Well the nightmare begins... First off is the wrong converter(smaller '98 unit in the '93 trans)... Course it's a weekend and holiday so I can't contact anyone... Well a little checking reveals the flexplates changed in '96, so off I go this morning to the junk yard to scrounge up the correct one... OK it now all bolts up, next sign of problem, is a stripped starter bolt hole(lower one, so easy to use bolt and nut)... Then I find the shift levers are a little different, so that has to be swapped... ARRGHHH... Finally it's in, all bolted up fill it with fluid and run it through the gears, seems OK... Raise it up again and there's a puddle of fluid under the tail shaft, from the rear seal... WTF??? A quick shake of the drive shaft reveals, there is NO bushing in the tail housing!!! Sum Bish MF Go to HELL!!!! Not likely I can get a bushing tomrrow, prob swap tail housings...
Someone is gonna catch it the 2nd.... Happy fornicatekin' New Year...:mad:

Well I was wrong on that part... It has the wrong tail housing(bushing is too large)... After thinking about it a bit, I believe it's Mark VIII transmission instead of for the Grand Marquis(still has the wrong converter cause the '93 MK/8 and '93 G/M use the same flexplate)...
Anyway I swapped tail housings and it's fine... Actually has noticeably more balls(mainly 1st gear), thinking it's possibly a 4R70W(that was molded into the Ford coffin it was shipped in)... I believe they appeared in '96 and that's when the flexplates changed...
