My Dad is getting a tempo/topaz from a guy at his work who is just gonna junk it. I am just curious if any parts interchange? I need new front seats if I plan to go with a console.
Yup, they'll fit (swap your seat tracks) and a lot of misc Ford clips, hardware, trim parts, EEC components, and electric gizmos are interchangable. It all depends on what you want to pull off of it!
thaks I promise you I will have fun with it. I noticed that it was 4 lug? tires or rims switch over?
They will, but you'll have to have the center holes machined. You might have clearance issues 'cuz the Tempaz rims are FWD offset
I've seen a Cougar with Tempo rims, so It's possible.
Acutally I'm pretty sure most of the Fuel Injection stuff is not interchangeable. All parts are calebrated for a four cylinder. Power is managed through an IRCM not a individual relays. All fords used some of the same in dash wireing connectors and stuff like that back then. Also some little stuff like bulbs are interchangeable. Any hardware one the 2.3L HSC is pretty much specific only to that model engine. (does not interchange with the RWD 2.3L)
I can confirm 100% that the rims will fit if you punch about .150" outta the center. (I once tryed one of my old tempo rims on the Cougar.
Don't forget the power mirrors (if it's an 84-94 2-door ONLY).
They're close enough to adapt if you want.

Hey yeah. I knoew that I was forgetting something. I dont even have a left mirror.
back when I bought my first Mustang('86-2.3/5 speed)
it had tempo wheels on it-big ed NO-NO!
They caused the driver side spindle to crack, and the wheel near came off, lucky for me, I had quick and cheap access to a parts car, and a buddy at work sold me a set of turbines with some good wide hides on 'em!
I guess the tempaz wheels, like mentioned before, are too small in the spindle hole, and mine apprently got loose, and put to much leverage on the thing, and broke it...I'd only had the car 3 days, just bought it to drop a 5.0 in, it was the 'Stang I traded in for the '88 B ird I have now...
Yeah it turned out to be not all that cool. One of the shocks is bad. But my Dad thinks that it is worth fixing up. He is going to see if it passes emmisions. I guess he is sick of the v-8's gas miileage. I am looing for a job, and when I get one, I am going to buy me a stock HO block, and I am gonna fix that all up, and then drop a t-5 in my cougar. It has just been sitting anyways. I kinda like the sleeper feel f the car, so I am not gonna paint it or nothing. I might just sand the rut off, and squirt it with some spray paint. And so that the ricers know that I am serious, I will get a big "boss" sticker for the back window with some 5.0 emblems all over it.
