Here's some fun for ya.
Note to self. More breaks and beer. :hick:
:pics-stfu:
You know it's serious when you have to break out the bungee strap. ;)
So...it's actually worse than removing a 1985-88 dash? Any hang-ups? Did the article help you at all, or is this just too different?
So far I would add a few things. You do have to remove the glove box on this one. The bolt to a bracket that hooks to the firewall is in there. I'll get a pic of it later when i put it back in. Also I'd add to the article that the blue nut on the steering column needs to come all the way off. Don't fool yourself in thinking it will slide out when loosened.
Also to get the top of the dash loose you have to remove the dash cap. Alot of screws back there. 5 i believe. You don't have to remove the vents or anything, i just got excited and did it anyway.
I've used the bungee strap too when I did the cores on the 83-84's I had to do (all of them at some point or another IIRC). It's been so long though that I wouldn't have much to add.
I just did the "pry the top open, get the old core out, put the new core in" route after loosening the assembly from the firewall.
Just a tedious PITA.
yeah, I'm having issues with loosening it from the firewall. I'm not 100 percent sure I have all the bolts out of the box. If Eric wasn't updating his site I'd look at the write up...
So I guess I'll wait.
Wow, That job doesn't look fun at all. my hands would never fit in there.
She's all buttoned up now. I haven't completed it though. Few more tidbits like driver side kick pbuttstuff and actually hooking up the hoses. Does anyone know anything about a restricting hose being stock on these cars?
Did some more research. You do need a "restrictor" for the 3/4 inch heater hose. Claude said I could use a 1/4 inch socket that's as big as the hose and jam it in there. That's what I'll do. For more info and a part number I found this link helpful.
