Title: door window chrome
Post by: daminc on December 15, 2007, 05:55:21 PM
Does anybody know if all the chrome moulding can be taken off and swapped to another door without too many problems on a 87-88 Cougar LS?

It's not super easy but not super hard either. It can be done, although I will warn that it's easy to bend if you're not careful.

Thanks for the bending warning Eric. I was just making sure the pieces came off and weren't pressed in as part of the door it's self.
I didn't want to ruin something I couldn't replace.

I'm a little more familiar with 1983-86 doors but from what I remember on 1987-88:

Roll the window down and remove the door panel. You have to remove the outside mirror first. There should be a screw holding the trim on, underneath where the mirror was. The 1987-88 doors have a small trim piece in front of the mirror; I think that has to come off first. On the bottom piece, open the door and on the end where the B-pillar trim is, look underneath...there should be either a screw or a nut holding on the trim. Might be one along the dew wipe also (glass side). It kind of just flips up from there. You'll figure it out. I don't remember much about the top piece other than there are hidden clips that hold it on.

Hope that helps ya.
