Title: New addition to the nest... Part Deux
Post by: Warbird9 on February 23, 2005, 07:08:25 AM
Here's the '88 TC that I also picked up. Even though it's not nearly as nice as the LX, it'll still be a good platform for what I have planned. It has 57K on the O, but I'm finding it wasn't very well taken care of. It needs only a little TLC, but in the whole scheme of things it won't really matter.
Don't mind the red seat, it's out of my Sport, and only temp. The recliner mech. on the original needs fixed or replaced. Might just get a set of aftermarket seats and be done with it. Only time will tell. :grinno:

the other seats are rare, you would get many kudos if you repaired the drivers seat, if not I'd take em all off your hands :D

Looks like a great project... appears to be a well-optioned car as well.
Too bad it isn't a 5-speed.

I dig that spoiler.

very clean interior. Is it a 5.0?

Looks pretty stock, so I'd guess no. (so let me guess, you're ripping its' heart out?)

Other than the driver's seat and the slush box, this is the car I dream about.

Actually, this is the 2nd set of seats this color that I have. :grinno:  If your interested in them, let me know. We could try to work something out. I'm from Pittsburgh, so shipping could be rough :wtf:  :shoothead

Yup, it has alot of the bells and whistles. If I was keepin' the 4 banger, I would have a choice of two T5's from my parts cars. The spoiler, from what I was told is a universal size, and has the LED brake light. A couple of the LED's don't work though.
Current plans include a stroked 351, Tremmec TKO, and 31 spline set-up for the 8.8, plus the CHE pieces.

when the other seat broke, was it just the ratcheting mechanisim or something? I have to switch one of those out on my car.

Not sure whats wrong yet. It's kinda stuck in ricer recline mode. I pull it up to raise the back and it falls back down to semi recline position. The laid back position if you will. Was interesting to drive home that way, since I'm used driving in racer mode. Seat upright, ready for the bends!

yeah lots of people think I like to drive like a thug, with just one hand on the steering wheel and looking through the back "c" window. by the way, those seats that are in there look pretty slick. You should just fix the old ones.

Does the ratchet still work if you recline it even farther? Common problem is the seatback frame getting bent from pushing back hard to lift your butt while reaching for the wallet in your back pocket. The frame is only supported by the ratchet mechanism, so they often twist sideways too, and you end up looking out the passenger window instead of the windshield.

Thats gonna happen to mine soon enough i absolutley have to get new seat if im going to keep my car.  A 380 pound beast behind the wheel cant be good for those seats.  On another note i noticed my car was leaning to the drivers side today and before you ask i was standing behind it.
