lower intake's installed+heads are torqued down. I'm contemplating whether or not to bolt down the valve covers or not, dunno if I'm going to get roller rockers or not. I probably will, only ~$100 for a used set. I'm also going to get a spacer for the upper/lower intake. goes between the two, and will 1) increase runner length and thus improve torque and 2) will help the throttle linkage clear the oil filler. the valve covers are for a carbed engine, but they're just too beautiful to not use :D I'm outta money now cuz on my way up north to pick up the cobra intake, my alternator took a **** on me, thus killing my battery. so I had to get towed to a kragen, get a battery ($70), and when I finally got back home, a new alt ($130) so I'm kinda broke now.
oh yeah, here's the cobra upper. I painted the intake and I was going to buy another sticker plate for the top so I just pried this one off, that's why it's all f'd up

here's how the lower intake+head ports matched up. some are pretty much perfect, others are a bit off.

^polished combustion chamber
I did the porting/polishing myself. unfortunately, I left one of the heads outside after painting it and it rained, thoroughly ****ing up all the work I did. so I had to polish it up again
Nice, you should leave the beat up sticker to make people think there is a beater engine in there ;)
Nice pictures!
Very nice. Can I have the heads and intake?C'mon, you KNOW you really want to restore the car back to factory.
yeah, I'm just DYIN' to stay slow :p I didn't put tons of hours into the heads for nothin
Yes,I understand,BUT,if you restore it,it'll be worth a fortune in 30 or 40 years.LOL.
well by then I'll have my mid-life crisis and buy a 2040 Tbird, complete with hyper-drive, voice recognition...oh, and some f'n CUPHOLDERS!! :p I still don't understand why a "luxury" car doesn't have cupholders...

Silly Wabbit.... don't you know cups were not even invented when our cars were built???
BTW... That engine is gonna be sweet !!!! What cam are you using???
b-303
You will need a 2400-3000 stall or its gonna be soft on the bottom end..
already ahead of ya...got a 3k stall I've had for about 9 months :D and I'm definitely going to get a TC rear, I just have to get a job where my car isn't necessary (I'm trying to get a job @ VatoZone or maybe Napa, rather than Dominos)
the zone has funded many a projects involving birds.... i can testify to a pimpin bird in Wilmington Oh... it's a TC.
I'm leavin to go bug the manager again...and return the ring and spring compressors I rented :p
Looking real sweet.
I'm batting 0, too late to do my engine as nice as you've done it, and also I can't take such good close-up shots.
Let me try to solve that one, What brand camera did you use to get those shots? My digital camera gets all blurry with close-up shots :disappoin
Bondo.. you need a camera with a close up(macro) setting... Most of the inexpensive cameras don't have one.
my cam is a sony dsc-u50. it isn't an amazing cam, but it's something. 2mp, some of the shots are grainy. I was thinking of getting a better one with optical zoom and stuff like that, some canons are nice and not too expensive, but for now this will do.
