I've been working on my latest project the last couple months. Its a 1988 turbo 2.3 turbo swap into another mustang. Its pretty simple except i put a turbo off a 90's GM turbodiesel on it. It bolted right on from the begining. All I had to do was fab oil lines and the exaust elbow. The guys on Corral said it should boost over 25psi. That should be enough boost for any 2.3. I'll keep you all posted about how it runs. I also swapped the auto for a 5spd,and put the disc 8.8 with 3.55's in it. Maybe get some ET's come spring time at Kearney,NE racetrack. Prob going to start at 17psi with it,cuz my last turbo conversion ran 14.90's with 12psi and 3.45 gears. but it was a coupe,so prob weighed less. keep ya all posted. Should have FMIC on it then, adjustable fuel reg, blowoff valve. So thats what Im up too.:burnout:
if it is a GM5 or GM8 dont spin it over 22 psi
I have stock motor so 20psi is more than max??? i think?????
20 being more than max? Nah. I was running 22 for a long time.
ohh yeahhhhh love the booost!!!!!!!!!!!
Can a 2.3 even blow hard enough to spool a big diesel V8 turbine? It sounds like you'll be waiting for redline to get full boost.
I've read over at turbo ford many times about using a dodge 5.9T holset turbo on these 2.3t's. Not sure about spool times. I like my T3-4 hybrid should make 28+ psi and I still have about factory spool times that I had with the regular T3.
