Earlier this week, I decided to stop by a small junkyard that I hadn't visited before with the hope of finding some Fox cars hiding out in the yard.
Well, there were three MN12 Cougars, but no Fox body Cougars, Thunderbirds or Mustangs.
However, they did have a car that I had never even heard of.
It was a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix Turbo STE.
Imagine my surprise when I walked up to an old Grand Prix (with mild curiosity for the ground effects) and saw 'TURBO' on the side of the door.
This thing had a 3.1 V6 with a Garrett T-25 and an intercooler. It also had HUD, leather, moonroof, factory CD player, ground effects, and steering wheel controls. That's pretty impressive for a 17-year-old car!
I read that these cars are not only rare, but they were built by ASC with a McLaren-built engine.
Everything was there, too. The turbo and intercooler were totally untouched. Hell, the entire engine seemed to be intact.
I guess these cars had beefed up transmissions, suspension parts, and a few other goodies.

I wonder if I could c00ch the intercooler and use it on the '86?
If it was bulit by ASC see how much they want for the whole car.
What was wrong with the GP? People pay good mney for the wiring/ECU/turbo and related components on those.
A buddy of mine used to have an 88 Camaro, and at the time, we both thought it was the hottest thing on the street. We came across one of those cars, and we talked to the owner a bit. We lines up with him, and from a dig, we were side by side, then he looks over, and we hear nothing more than what sounded like a jet taking off and him running away from us.
Very cool cars.
Yes that is a coveted version of a Grand Prix. My buddy has a Fiero and he would like to find one of those cars to yank the motor and wire harness. If I remember right they also made a breatta turbo version. Any how cool find.
How much would an all original car like that be worth 20 years from now?, 50 years?
I wish I had the time, money and patience to buy the whole car and work on it. I don't even have the time or space to buy it and part it out.
I don't exactly remember how the rest of the exterior looked. I'm sure there is at least several hundred dollars' worth of parts on the thing, but I'm thinking about c00ching the intercooler for myself.
GOD WHY CANT YOU BE CLOSER!!!!!! Those things are so COOL. My step mom has a grand prix se but those are sooo much cooler!
If you have a chance ask what they want for the car.
I seen one come through the dealership awhile ago but it was trashed. It had all kinds of cool gadets in the dash. I think it ran on two cylinders though and smelled like coolant pretty bad. My buddy had a 80 monte carlo with a turbo and a 4bbl qjet on it and he got it for $50 BUCKS. I wonder how many of them were made. it had buckets, center console, and was white. I thought it was a turd. But maybe worth something. Oh well it was a dirt track car after that. So prob too late too save!!!!!!!hahahahaha
my god,, what a rare find. And what shawn said,, yeah its true. I happend to be handing out the ass whoopin at the time though in the driver seat of that car. A fellow up in DC let me have a run.
if you cant get a price on the car, im interested in the turbo set up... My stepmoms GP, or my brothers cavi would love a nice turbo set up.
