Title: Running a rear sump only pan?
Post by: 88XR7 on November 22, 2007, 08:39:09 AM
I can't find any windage trays for a double sump, only for "Rear/Front sump only pans."

Will a regular rear sump mustang pan fit in our chassis?

iI’m pretty sure any fox pan will fit just make sure it’s a stock replacement. Not for aftermarket Ks

Nope won't fit. You need a Fox body dual sump pan. The pan from a 5.0 Mustang, Mark VII, and 83-88 5.0 T-bird and Cougar are all the same. You NEED one of those.

the canton widage tray is for a rear sump, and i think that alot of places call the dual sump a rear sump also, because the front sump really just is clearance for the oilpump

I have a dual sump pan. Are you saying I CAN'T use a rear sump only?

How can I run a windage tray then?

thats why all the kits that u have to buy to run a 351w or a 428 in a fox come with a special double sump oil pan. if you could use the regular oil pan, that wouldnt be in the converion kit.

i dont think ive actaully seen a rear sump pan, but you can get a windage tray from canton that will work with the pan you have!

Is a 'rear' sump pan considered a dual sump pan as well?

I don't see your reasoning on that.
I think I will call moroso or someone of the likes and see what I can figure out.
