Sorry I haven't been around lately. Been busy with school, work, and gettin some stuff done on my computer.
Anyways, I'm goin by Maaco tomorrow after class to see about FINALLY getting my Turbo Coupe hood painted. Just as a reminder:

I'll have it painted body color with the scoops painted flat black. Nothin major, but I wanna get some more stuff done for my Tbird now. Whatta you guys think?
I think that with that hood, and body color grille, it'll change your whole attitude about your car.
I had a body color grille on mine with a stock hood, I liked it.
Never tried it with the TC hood though...
I have no plans for the grille right now. I would like to have a TC lower front bumper down the road, though. But I dont like the TC header panel...i prefer the grille. So after the hood is painted and installed, I'll have a better idea on whether I want to keep the grille chromed or paint it.
Keep the scoops white. The flat black makes it look more "busy"
+1
The black in behind the sccops will be enough to set them off. And definatley paint the grill, looks way meaner.
Could anyone get me some pics of a white TC hood with black scoops and another one thats just white? I'd like to compare. But a while back I remember seeing a pic of an 85 TC with black scoops and I liked it.

dont paint the whole grille, jus paint the inset portions.
go ahead and and paint the scoops and the inset portions of the grille semi-gloss black.
I like the white painted grille. Not sure about the black scoops since that car has a TC nose and the hood gap seems really big too. Maybe I'll do a shiny black instead of flat for the scoops.
@gumby: got any pics of a grille with painted insert parts?
only in my head, sorry
My personal opinion for your car:
I would take the TC hood, and have it painted completely gloss white. Paint the inner section of the grill white as gumby said, and maybe do the Turbo Coupe bumper. Since your car is so clean, you really don't want anything else to take away from the clean body lines of it. The black scoops would automatically draw the eye, rather than the eye travel the car. Since you'd want the hood and bumper, I feel that painting the inner section of the grill white would tie it all together, but still make it known that its not a turbo coupe. You don't want to be an impostor.
Well would a gloss white match my car's factory, original Oxford White paint? Its an enamel color iirc. I dont know much about paint.
As for the scoops, I'll play around with the ideas a bit. Still not 100% decided either way.
Only if it is Oxford white.... Gloss white IS NOT oxford white. look at my hood.... my car is Oxford white and my hood is just gloss white..... noticably different.
^
See, white scoops. :D

Hey man whassup!!!!??
Totally with ya on the whole burdened down by school and stuff like that, same here! Gets tough havin to go without fiddling around with the ride for awhile.
The TC hood should be niiiiice. Can't wait to see it.
Well the person at Maaco said that it will cost $175 to paint the hood. Seems a bit more than I was expecting (considering a whole enamel paint job costs $300...). Would that money be better put towards some engine and/or suspension stuff? And also consider the fact that there will be a noticable difference between the new paint and the old 19 year old paint.
I rattle canned mine for about $20 including priming. I only advise it though if you really like wetsanding.
Actually, I would take it to a good paint shop. They will get an image of the paint currently on your car and age match the new paint to your existing paint.
i say you buy the stuff to do it... and do it.
spend that equal ammount and get some experiance.
If your not liking the idea of dumping all the money, and tis not gonna match, don't do it. Your car is soooooo clean, if the hood color is off, its gonna make the car look junky. I hate that, when two panels are off it looks like a hack job. Im gonna put T/C scoops on the hood of my mark hehehe
I'd leave the stock hood. I don't like the idea of scoops unless they do something:hick:
I'de leave the grill chrome. Then again I like the stock grill ;)
i agree no black and don't copy this 100% either. someone backed into my grill and broke it so i got a new one and they painted it looked ok so i left it that way before the macco paint job. The TC hoods look nice 9 times out of 10 how much did you pay for the Hood?
I paid $36 for it.
Trust me, I doubt you will ever have to worry about that...... as for the paint fading, I have never heard of white fading, so you should be fine, and like they said, they should age it to match perfectly...
Well the thing is, if I'm spending that kinda money, I'd rather get something done to the engine or suspension. That's what I'm debating right now.
Dude why is there snow in TX?
West Texas winters can be ably cold...higher elevations can quite a bit of snow too lol.
Well atleast you don't have salt...........
