I need a pic of the timing mark on the balancer and a pic where the rotor is pointing. I`m retarded and let my memory handle the ignition timing. I pulled the distributor out and replaced the module and cant get her to turn over.
Take some sandpaper and clean it up a little then mark it w/a marker
Sorry no pics here but just trying to help
I`m beginning to think that the balancer slipped. the engine shakes alot even with the coil unhooked.
Any help?
With the pointer at TDC (or at least somewhere in the middle of the marks), the rotor should be pointing at either distributor cap terminal #1 or #6, depending on which crank revolution you're on (one turn at crank = 1/2 turn at rotor). If it's off, either try turning the distributor body a bit, or unbolt it, lift it up an inch or so to disengage the drive gear, then re-aim the rotor so when you slide it back down it ends up pointing where you want it to be. It may take a few tries, and you may even have the rotor 180* off.
Thanks man I got it running off starter fluid. I think something in the lines are clogged up.
You can use chalk to fill in the lines/grooves, then wipe away the smooth surface leaving the chalk in the timing grooves.
I use a white out pen after cleaning the marks with a tooth pic from under the car. The white out usually won't come off with time unless you have a major oil leak.
