Title: 84 Thunderbird rear Locker info needed
Post by: kmhracing on November 15, 2007, 11:23:09 PM
Just got home with my 84 bird. Streets wet and leaves everywhere.
Problem is this baby is a one legger. I think it's a 7.5 rear. I have not researched any on locker rears yet for this car. Just wanted to see what you all have to say about this first. Are the 4x4 locker rears the same for a car?
I live in hill country and will need a better rear for the snow or I'll be walking up the hill or worse!!
Thanks,
Ken

It would be cheaper and easier to swap to a 8.8 from a Mustang with the Trac-lok. If it starts to peg-leg, the rebuld kit is $50 from summit, and 2.5 quarts of gear oil from local parts store.

A 83-86 Turbocoupe or Xr7 comes with 3.45 locking gears in a 7.5 case.

Here is a link for some tech.
