Title: Lights on sooner and a 2-stage autolamp...?
Post by: booksix on November 02, 2007, 07:18:05 PM
Ok electrical guys...  can I make my autolamp lights come on sooner?  I don't like waiting 'til it's almost too dark...

also, can anyone think of a way to make a stock autolamp setup into a 2-stage system that first turns on the parking lamps followed by full headlights when it gets darker?

The light sensor/amplifier has an adjusting screw to make it earlier or later. This is the thing on the dash that senses the light.

To seperate the parking light and the headlights would require a second sensor/amplifier and a second control switch. Plus rewiring the relay circuits.

Personaly I don't know why anyone wants to drive with just the parking lights on.

Yeah, actually I think it looks pretty sick as well.  Not to mention on cloudy days or when driving home at dusk, it's nice to be seen without having to have full headlights on all the time..., kind of like daytime running lamps...  I actually know a lot of people who do this, usually to look 'cool' but it has been proven on 'lights on' test strips of highway that it actually lowers the chance of collisions.

Anyway, thanks for the tip on the adjustment screw.  I did not know there was one!
