I've been playing around with some paint scheme ideas for a while and yesterday I came up with this one. I'm linking since the pic is kind of big. Tell me what you think. (http://www.dnet.net/user/jkirchman/gifs/laughatyou.gif)

I vote green with an "02" on the side, the union flag and "General Grant" :)
thats weird I was thinking the exact same thing with the 02 and the general grant earlier. Might be cool to do it to an actual charger.
Guys I couldn't do a General Grant. Seeing as how I live in NC, that would be blasphemy. :grinno:
DO It!! Someday I would like to restore a real general lee. That would make an excellent tribute. That was by far my most favorite show of all time.
There is a general lee running aroung where I live. Roll cage, welded doors, push bar and all. :ies:
Then there is a small two door hatch back from the early 80s that has 0.1 painted on it. :screwy:
it would make me cry
MDJi281,I'll cry with you.........a lot.
:giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:
too much but i understand the reason for no 02 :brick:
I guess with some black turbines from a 1988 XR7 that would be kinda cool. Maybe. :)
Well I wouldn't want to see two grown men cry! I didn't think about the black turbines, pro-five-oh. That's actually a similar looking wheel to the one that was on the General Lee. Ya know if I had the money to do something like that I probably would just for the hell of it. Then I'd buy another Cougar to drive every day.
Not a bad idea, but there can only be one General!! lol :ies:
Yeah... I like it about as much as I like the idea of a Starsky & Hutch Cougar/T-bird. Retrofitting paint schemes just doesn't work well when it goes across platforms.
That's one of the reasons I have such a passion for the turbine wheels... they look classic. I see them as a subtle connection to the muscle car era.
Don't paint it like that, Jim. I think you would get unwanted attention like I did when I had a "dixie horn" on my '86 (yes, I did).
Mmmm, didja have air shocks too?
No, and I didn't have the obligitory Dale Earnhardt '3' on the back window either.
:D
Buddy of mine is actually thinking about doing this. Car is already the right color, well kinda, most of the time it looks spot on but when the light is just right its red. He had it painted performance red(so he says) but most of the time it looks orange.
cougarcrager- My freinds dad has the dixie horn and a 3 on the back window of his truck.
My wife's Mustang is performance red and I can see what you are saying about it looking orange, 88FoxBird. I think a Dixie horn would be cool. Kind of like a tribute to the 240-something Chargers that met their doom thanks to the Dukes of Hazzard.
I think I'm going to look for a set of black turbines now...
Any paint scheme that refferences NASCAR is a terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE Idea.
The 'racing' series is an embarrasp00get to motorsports. Almost as bad as D1 with it's figure skating scoring system.
Non Athletic Sport Centred Around Rednecks
Yeah but the General Lee was around in a time when NASCAR was still competitive and had not been neutered by regulations, whiners, and commericialism yet.
