Title: Bird with no rear brakes
Post by: tbirdsps on November 01, 2007, 01:11:01 PM
So, my daughter is complaining about the brakes.  Pedal low etc.  I decided to bleed first.  No leaks anywhere.  I pull all four wheels and start the process.  There's two schools of thought, 1.  Bleed closest to master first and then each brake further away until all four done, 2.  Bleed furthest away from the master and all four until done.

I decide to use method 1.  The fronts go ok but pressure out of the line seemed iffy.  I find no air.  So I go to the left rear.  Nothing!  Nada! Not a dribble.  So, I go to the right rear...again nothing.  I don't like throwing money at things so I drive it.  Pretty good leak dripping out of the frame rain under the drivers door.  Not a big leak but a leak none-the-less.  I give up until yesterday.  I guess the cooler temps at night now has had some effect.

The master cylinder is leaking between it and the booster.  It was completely dry when I started all this.  Any way it's very strange.  I'll pick up a master cylinder at lunch.

She's buying a new car soon so I was hoping not to get in to repairs on this but it's not to be.  She's apparently been talking about a new car in the presence of the 'Bird.  Bad Ju Ju. :beatyoass:  I'll have to counsel her on that!  I thought I could get in to repairs on it in my own good time.  It's got a great interior and straight body.  She'll be giving it to me when she's done with it.  Something to keep the Cougar Wagon company.
