Here lately she just hasnt wanted to start without a little motivation.
It cranks real easy, got a new coil and ignition module. fresh tune up
My mind is tellin me fuel pumps
what would you guys say?
The T-bird or the Cat? See what your fuel pressure is before swaping pumps. I've done it and it sucks :hick:
Have you checked the battery and starter?
Haha Neither one of you read his post did you?
I read it,I guess I just didn't absorb what I read.I have an H.O Mark VII pump if you need it.
Dont believe the mark one will work. 83 is most likely gonna be different. and I got 2 pumps.
it doesnt want to start because its chasing the bird all night ;)
What's the fuel pressure?
What do you mean by "a little motivation"?
I thought it said Car not Cat:hick:
how old is the fuel filter?
by "a little motivation" do you mean you gotta pump the pedal a few in the morning?
little motivation as in starting fluid... but that has come to no avail and left me driving the bird.
Ill have to find my pressure checker or snag one from school.
How did it run once started?
it ran fine. it had a stumble every now and then, but i thought that was because of the py plug wires.
it had spiked 10 psi and bled back to 0
You ever change the fuel filter?
Are you talking about fuel pressure?
Only 10 psi???
If that's what you meant, then it's possible the fuel pressure regulator is bad. Pressure should be 39psi and it should hold that for a while.
Try that first.
Pull off the hose going to the FPR and see if gas comes out when you turn the key.
That engine has a fuel pressure regulator?
The regulator on the CFI unit in on the TB itself. There is no hose going to it.
If he only had 10 psi of pressure, it's either the regulator or the HP inline pump. The regulator is the cheaper and easier thing to replace first.
Doh! I should have known that owning that car!
yessir im only getting 10 psi per my pressure checker. but the gauge bleeds down real quick with the key on.
I shall look into the regulator, its old anyways.
Probably the regulator. I had the same problem, although mine was caused by some junk jamming the check valve open.
You can verify whether it is the FPR or the FP itself by installing a fitting with a cap in it on the return side of the CFI unit. If pressure holds, you know it is the FPR, if pressure still drops, you know it is the FP.
well, I changed the regulator. No start. No change.
So I replaced the In-line pump. Fired right up. Now if she starts in the morning Ill be happy!
Cool.
Did you happen to recheck the pressure to see what it was and if it held?
39-40 psi. :D
