Title: 1988 Mercury Cougar For Sale...
Post by: c0uga2 on October 06, 2007, 11:33:41 AM
Hello all,

My 1988 Mercury Cougar died on Thursday with blown head gaskets resulting in hydro-lock.

The car was maintained extremely well. It had 84,144 Miles on it at the time the engine died. It would have cost me $3100 to get the engine rebuilt but I could not part with that much money mostly because I'm not mechanically gifted.

I would love to sell this car to someone who is willing to take care of it.

Thanks. Believe me I'm upset about it because one thing I do not possess is the understanding of how cars work. I'm intimidated by them and keeping a 20 year old car is not worth the trouble I will have in the future.

I love this car and want to see it end up with someone who cares about is as much as I cared about it.

Please spread the word.

I will try and help you find a new owner for it. I also lack the knowing how to work on my car most of the time i just picked up a new cd player and gotta wait till my friend gets off work so he can hook it up for free. next week i am getting my exhaust redone and subframe connectors welded in and the rest of my gauges put in.

i will see if i know anyone that wants it and would fix it up and take care of it.

Do you know how much you want for it?  Ballpark?

I know I'm somewhat dreaming here.. but that would be the perfect donor for my nice running 3.8/5-speed that is in my ragged out 88 Cougar.

Excellent. I already have an offer on the table from a friend of mine which is at $1K for the car as is. I told him if anyone makes a better offer that I'll go with the higher offer which he is okay with.

So, let me know your offer and thanks for the reply.

Hey 420ttam420...

This would be an option but unfortunately I lack the mechanical experience to perform such a task, it's not an option for me.

Thanks for the reply.
