See a bunch of changes happening lately, how about getting rid of the post counts too?  I'm really interested to see if it makes a difference at all.

Opinions?

I could care less either way.  For the record: it is no longer raining here :)

Post counts are needed for administrative purpose....there's no way to do without them. There might be a way to make them invisible, I don't know.

"Edit both the postbit and postbit_legacy templates and remove this section from them:

$vbphrase[posts]: $post[posts]

Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Edit Templates -> Postbit Templates"

IF we get rid of the post count, then people might think I actually have a life.

Yeah, averaging over 22 posts per second for 3 straight years must be quite the challenge!

Getting rid of post count should only be considered if its an issue, and not a single person has mentioned it until now.

It honestly never has bothered me. What's wrong with a post count?

I have never seen any evidence of people posting just to up their count. This forum does not have "ranks" that change with post counts, so it is to nobody's advantage to bump their numbers. The "post ws" are whoring because they like to hear themselves talk (see themselves type?), not to make big numbers...

We could make it so that posts in certain sections don't count toward the post counts, but again, I see no reason to do so.

It would be cool if posts in the lounge didn't count, then it might give some meaning to how much one actually contributes to the forum.  Probably wouldn't do much good at this point, but it was just an idea.

And it rained ALL day here

You brought up the lounge thing once before and it was decided against.  Why does it bother you so much anyway?  Let them ws do their whoring.  The rest of us know who they are.  They will receive their comupance one way or another.:D

Oh and you should invest in an umbrella:hick:

I think the one thing everyone is forgetting is that the sole purpose of the lounge is whoring. It exists solely to talk about things that have nothing to do with these cars, or even any car. It's an "Off topic" section that invites you to "sit back, relax, and discuss whatever you feel like".

The only problem I've seen emerge is that some people have started using the lounge - indeed, the whole forum - as a personal blog. It's one thing to make a post about something interesting that you found, or something interesting that happened to you or your car, but it's quite another for people to start 40 new threads in 24 hours telling us about every single event in their lives. Similarly, we don't need a new thread in the user rides section every time you wipe your plug wires down or change a headlight bulb or wiper blade (we all know who I'm talking about here).
