Title: This car is a Pain in the A$$
Post by: chri85tc on September 30, 2007, 08:35:53 AM
Well I finally got the 85TC all together only to find out that the center section is bad, funny since it was supposed to be good when I bought it from east coast turbo ...a year and a half ago. Oh well ?
It blows oil out both sides, compressor and turbine side.

I drove it around the block fogging out the neighborhood and no boost POS.

So I decided its time for a bigger turbo.

Heres what I have :
LA3, refurbed 36lb injectors from Cruisin Perf., Full 3" turbo to tail exhaust, ported E6, ported and polished head, stock 88 TC cam, block bored .03 over, Stinger FMIC, K&N cone Filter, Forge BOV, basically everything is new and upgraded except of course the $#@^%y T3.

I was thinking Garret GT series,

I saw a GT2871R T3/T4OE 50 Trim .63 Turbine -Stage 3(supposedly supports up to 400hp). But I cant seem to find a dealer that I can trust online.

Any suggestions on the Turbo or the dealer?
I do want new ! Used or rebuilt never seems to work for me. They always turn out to be bad in some way.

Thanks,
Chris

I tell you Turbo City. I know over at turbo ford many dog on them. I bought my Current T3-4 Hybird from them about 6 years ago. No problems what so ever. Even after sitting for a year and a half the seals are still good. I got mine when I didn't have a computer. I just called them up on the phone talked to them told them what I was doing and went from there. Great turbo I can't tell a difference in spool times compared to the T3.

Yeah well it would seem I definitely need a new one. Here is what the inside looked like. And I never ran it till yesterday.

I'd say let them know about it and make them replace it.  could be possible that they mixed something up with a return and sent you a defective unit.

Even sitting seals should last ALOT longer than 1 1/2 years.  There may be a problem getting the vendor to believe it sat for so long though.

OTOH, I've had parts sit longer than that (FINALLY installed that door handle that had been sitting around)
