Alright I had to car since Feb when I bought it the guy didn't mention cruise control under options the car had... but the steering wheel has the switches. but don't work, didn't realized this till After I bought the car. So I need to know what the wiring diagram is for this cruise control and what might be the problem... or a route on how to check whats wrong with it, because I can't drive the speed limit without speeding without it on the highway......
Check the obvious stuff first. Is the cable connected to the throttle body? Is the fuse good?
I've had several issues with cruise control in these cars. Most of the time it was a vacuum issue with the servo (located in driver's side fender).
Remove the plastic collar from the steering column right behind the steering wheel. Then, try to look at the back of the wheel with a flashlight. You should see three brass rings. Are they intact? Loose?
When I lost the cruise in my '88 XR-7, I yanked a servo from an '87 at the junkyard for $10. After swapping the unit, I never had another problem. There are several weak points.
typing "cruise control" in the search function yielded three pages of stuff.
but........
here is one thread i was deeply involved with that needs a 'right click" "save as"

auto or manual? if manual, check the clutch switch... it'll kill the cruise if adjusted wrong (took me 3 years of driving with no cruise after my 5.0 + mustang pedals swap to figure out the quadrant hit the dash and kept the switch from being pushed in all the way...)
