Title: my new turbo bird
Post by: fordguy545 on September 22, 2007, 11:11:33 PM
I'd been looking for close to two months when this car showed up on Nato.  Looked  clean so I went and picked it up.  Even cleaner than it looked in the pics he sent me.  Its an 88 Turbo coupe with every option but leather.  The only rust on it is inside the doors at the bottom and a small spot underneath near the rear bumper.  Everything else is still factory undercoated and clean.  Still has an uncracked factory dash cap and now has 139.5K miles.  Gets 30 mpg on highway and I am really pleased with my purchase.  Got it for about half the going rate for one of these in this condition:D

as you  can see, there are a few dents and scratches in the paint I would like to fix, but will wait until over winter.  I got the short shifter installed today.  Doesn't seem much shorter :shake: but it does make it alot harder to miss a shift considering I've done the 5 to 2 a couple times downshifting :omg: I think it definately needs to have an FMIC instead of that top mount, because I keep wanting to check plugs but not wanting to have to take that intercooler off :shake:
I also bought stuff tonight to put a cd player in it so I can listen to stuff other than the radio

Nice find, the paint looks really good in the pics! Pretty darn clean under the hood too.... It looks like the previous owner did some tinkering. I noticed the open element air cleaner and MM camber plates. No more PRC. I wonder what struts and shocks are on it?

Its got bilsteins on the front.  Probably on the back too.  rides nice though.  I think it may be a little stiffer than the stock cars I've been in.  The open filter and gillis valve are the only engine mods he said it had.  All the rest of the stuff was either suspension bushings/shocks and preventetive maintenance.  Does apparently have a spec stage 2 clutch.

Great looking Bird.I notice it has the ultra rare "tag on dash" option. That'll add to the value as the years go by.LOL.

yeah, it will be on the dash till I figure a good way to mount it underneath.  I'm not drilling holes in the bumper of this car!!!

Guess you didn't really look at that med red TC at CJ huh??? It had RED interior, 60K mi, and was in showroom+++ condition...

Still this a nice car, a little detailing will do wonders... Plus it has the raven interior, that I'm partial to... Great find...

Tom

Found a place to mount the plate today, and  did ford make it easy.  I bent the top of the plate 90+ degrees and the screw holes for that black plastic air deflector are in the perfect place for the plate to get sandwiched in between the air deflector and the bumper.  Didn't even have to drill any  holes:evilgrin: I wouldn't say it looks the greatest, but its better than having it on the bumper:mad:
