looks good. what color you gonna go for this time?
xmore
OOOOh! A turbo 2.3 F100!!!!
LOL
Nice truck.
You should paint it the stock color scheme. It'll look retro:hick:
that's going to look great with a new coat of paint. that's a nice truck, man.
Cool:D
:hick:
:beatyoass:
I want it!!!!!
sneak peek of the bird
Is it missing the engine again? :hick:
No you can see the carb bonnet in the pics
nah, Im waiting on a torque converter to show that i feel i may never see.So i can put my P/A super comp C4 in it:D
Ah I see the engine now that I'm on the computer at home. The res on the ones at school sucks:hick:
o i miss my old 72 f100 here is the only pic i have that truck ran so good and would always start on the first tap of the key i sold as you see it for 3,800 so i made out good
picked up some 28-10.5W's for the bird tonight
I kinda like how this thread contains both of your builds. I'll go ahead and say it, another vote for keeping the stock stripings on the F100. It's just a shame it's not a '78 or '79 Dodge truck, then you could go for the Lil' Red Express or Warlock clone. It looks real nice though, as does the birdy.
you could always lay that truck on the ground like mine, but with the factory striping:D But you'll never outrun me with that engine(i dont think anyway, lol)
id like to lower it but not to an extreme maybe 3" front 5" rear
hey, mines only 13" drop, rofl
lil progress
ported GT40 heads, 1.7 RR , lunati voodoo cam, double roller chain, holley red pump,pa super comp c4 with brake,3000 stall, 4.30 gear with a lincoln locker and more to come
more
awesome!!
Did you paint GT40 iron heads silver so they look like aluminium ones? They look a lot like iron GT40s to me.
Looking Sharp!
I've always loved these trucks!
yes, there iron Gt40's that are very very ported...:D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czsJ6P4G3Hg
that thing sounds good.
that thing fires up real fast!! sounds good too.
351w?? What are the heads off of, Id love to replace my stock heads on my 351 with something that flows better. I mean they are ported but they are still 69 heads.
yes 351W with ported GT40 heads
so there not 351 specific heads? Guess I need to get 2 sets, one for the stang, one for the lincoln.
Thanks!
What's the specs on the cam? sounds very similar to my stang. Its a older lunati, just mine has a bit more lope to it
the gt40 was avalible on both the 302 and 351 so there is both versions.

new pics:burnout:
I was never a big fan of that style F-Series. But thats going to be a very nice looking truck when its done.
Are you going to strip it before you paint it?
Ill probly end up removing most of it.
If you don't prime it right away (within a couple hrs.) use something like pickelx to keep it from flash rusting
Ill probly spray it all with etch prime
gotz me some slapper bars and some drag shocks!!!!!!!!!!
:mullet:
more
snuck a pic of the bird in:birdsmily:
looks good!
those MTs look like they're on their way out. Cant wait till you start to finish it, we all know itll never be finished around you
God I love that truck sooo much!!
Do i see a nitrous plate under that carb?
Bird looks good too!
There getting close but still have some passes left:burnout:
Fixin to start on the body here in the next week or two
Yup thats a ZEX perimeter plate. Still need to wire it all up
nice nice
id love to find a old ford like that
You do know once he finishes it, he'll get rid of it, right?
My friend had a 77 just like that but long bed and inline six and a 3 speed. My other buddy has a 74 he just fully restored and he took out the 390 and has it built to a 428 Cobra Jet.
I believe ill keep this one.
broke the 9" tonight
What were you doing........Brake Stands, power shifting....As long as you dont tear into the bird for parts. So is this thing getting rebuilt rear now??
racing at the track, I rebuilt the rear not 100 miles ago.
How did you break a 9" with a 351? :hick:
And here I thought 9's didn't break...
dunno, driver axle is broken pics to come...
was only leaving at 3,200 off the brake:shakeass:
put 5k pnds of weight along with a healthy dose of torque and viola!
stock axles?
my currie units in my stang take PLENTY of abuse.
if it's 2wd, it's quite possible to break a 9" axle. They are mostly 28 splines. It's the 4x4's that got 31's. But still, it take quite a bit to break one. Sometimes asphalt isn't forgiving, lol.
I should also mention some F100's in the 70's had dana 44's in the rear.
yup its a 28 spline rear:ford:
Exactly, it must be a 2wd with 28 splines. I've had a 9" Detroit Locker in my 1969 Torino 428CJ since I bought it in 1978 and it has been perfect. It's a 4.11 and has seen a bazillion trouble free launches in the last 30 years. It's a 31 spline though.
it is a 2wd
its also heavy
get some 31 splines!! Especially the way you drive hahahah!
Heck I'd go 35 splines and a detroit locker, or equivalent. Then really smoke'em!!
Honestly, though, another 4x4 complete axle might be the way to go...typically they cost $100 used. IIRC, you'll need the wider U-bolt plate to line up with the 4x4 axle pad. 4x4's had 3" wide springs and the 2wd's had 2.5" springs.
You'll end up with a 3.55 gear, too....possibly w/traclock
hell my 9 inch is out of a station wagon, joys of it 3 inch wide rear drums, drags the assend of the stang to a stop MUCH faster then stock, my dad had it shortened and custom cut axles put in, with a traclock, and 4.11's. When I drive the car I'm not easy on it, and my dad pushes it, and we cant seem to hurt anything but the t-5! That rear takes everything and anything!

pass before the broken axle
dont think southern cars dont rust..
this stuff was repaired previous to 1987.
before...
during
shaving the stake pockets and emblems while im at it
more
even more nightmare
last few for now
It's amazing what you find under the paint, isn't it?
Are you butt welding or lap welding? It was tough to tell in the pics.
It doesn't look like you need a whole lot to fix her up.
Butt,I hate lapping seams it leaves a new place for corrosion:D
now that i have all the panels on i can get this bed sand blasted So that all the seams are clean thats why i was asking you about the rust prevenative paint. Its sad the restof the truck is as solid as it is and the bed be so poor. This thing was painted previous to 1987 when my dad got it.
if you blast the bed, just epoxy prime it. the rust will be gone. seam sealer will seal out the air also.
Are you blasting the underside too?
yes gonna blast the whole thing
looks sweet!

It looks a lot better without that stripe down the side. makes it look like a totally different truck.
Ive changed alot! it could pass for another truck:D

I agree. However, the Explorer stripe is getting rarer.
You had that much white left still? LOL
Looks great. Tail lights look really good
OK, I'll ask.
What's up with the Speed Shop stuff?
just some fun:burnout: I do race the truck on occasion
http://www.f-100xl.com/
I love those older trucks. A lot more body style then the straight sided trucks
better pics
Are you going to paint it? or leave it primed.
it'll be painted eventually just not in a big hurry:D
Im blind! looks really good though
You know I kinda like the primer. It looks tough. :D
Prime it and clear it.
I love this truck!! Looks killer!!
Took another couple inches out of the front...
secksy
like the truck! got a little project of my own going on..........

thanks guys
getting ready for something new:D
cleveland?
going 429-460 probly with a 4 spd behind it
If I get the money I am going to buy a 76 F-250 Hyboy with a 428 Cobra Jet with a C-6 Trans.
:flip: ignore the valve covers there not staying
Why the hell does everybody paint the wiend stealth manifold blue:mad: I painted mine silver to match my truck when I had it on there. I am now running a victor on mine. Anything done to the motor and are you running a toploader, or one of the big t-18/19's?
Cause it looked like pooey it probly wont stay too long
I ended up with a c6 with a stall.
Gonna have to find a money tree for a BB toploader
71 429,DOVE-C heads,comp cam,roller rockers,double roller chain
what headers do you have on your truck?
you wont find em anywhere cause I made them. 2 1/8 primary equal length. Took me a month to make them. I got my toploader for $100:D only cause dad sold it to the guy I got it back off of and he works for us. Guy was going with an auto if he would EVER get his 64falcon done. I ran it quite a while on the 43 year old bearings, and finally lost one. When I pulled it out to fix it, I found out the input shaft was twisted
(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/100_0239.jpg)
We'll see how long the rest of the trans lasts now because I just put in a McLeod dual disk clutch. I have replaced pretty much all the gears in it because it was a close ratio and it didn't work too well with the 5200# truck. Still using the stock 44 year old syncros:rollin:
Heres some pics of my headers

man those headers are bada$$
:d :d :d :d :d :d :d :d
Sweet:D What's the engine out of, ie does it have the good early heads? ;)
new pics to come, seems to tug this thing around just fine:evil:
how built is your c6??
auto with a manual VB in my stang would be fun... then maybe id sell my toploader
Got a shift kit and a TCI converter wouldnt work in your car anyways it has the big block bell.I was serious about buying your toploader and HAD cash.
pics....
the only thing is its my dads trans he bought for the stang a long time ago
If I sold it I wouldnt have a trans for the car... As it is im trying to hunt down a clutch set up for it now.... not very easy....
If you want it, we will have it for a long time so let me know and i'll talk to him. But i know its worth money, and new transmissions are NOT cheap....
:burnout:
new pics.
ah if u decide you still want the toploader, im thinking about starting to stock pile parts for the stang
im thinking for street strip a nasty built auto with a manual V/B might be more what I want
I love this ol truck ;)
fresh C6 , and a bath to wash the mold off
Awesome man!
Buddy of mine has a '69 F-150 with a 390 with a dual quad intake and a beefed up C6, I'll have to show him your truck...he's into the older trucks pretty deep.
I need to get down there and take some vids and pics of him lightin' the tires off on it.
Dad has a '72 F-100...been trying for the last few years to talk him into restoring it...so far...:punchballs:
Anywho, that is one nice Ford...I dug it with the steel wheels that were on it, but the slots make it come alive. Any idea what kind of power it has?
thanks man
Just converted it to E85 so ill have to get it to the track soon:D
