So I see that Princess Auto has some ATV tires on sale, and they just happen to be of the size that my bike uses (24"X9"X11"). It's a relatively obscure size, mostly used on older machines (and the rear of some fairly new Hondas), and I really needed tires, so I go to look at 'em. ATV shops generally want around $100 apiece or more for tires in this size, and PA had 'em on for $69 apiece.
For you Americans: Princess Auto is a Canadian automotive chain that sells lots of things you didn't even know existed, but you really, really need. They sell some very obscure tools, small engines, hydraulic parts, trailer parts (everything you'd need to make a trailer of any size/type), as well as lots of surplus items from auto manufacturers, aftermarket parts suppliers, and electronics manfacturers. There's even occasionally the potential to make money, as I found out a few years ago when I bought a bunch of surplus overhead consoles for 94-01 Dodge Ram trucks for $10 apiece and sold 'em on eBay for $40 (for plain ones) to $100 (for ones with compass/temp display) apiece.
Based on what I've heard others say, I guess the closest USA equivalent to Princess Auto would be Harbour Freight.
The problem with Princess Auto is that a large percentage of what they sell, especially their own "Power Fist" brand, is MADE IN CHINA , and I do mean . It's very cheap to buy, but as with any tools, you get what you pay for. Their quality is usually very, very bad, and most people only buy their tools for "one-off" jobs - a job you might only ever do once in your life, so it's not worth investing big money in the tools.
Knowing Princess Auto's "Cheap and cool, but with a catch" reputation I figured they'd be cheap, poor quality "MADE IN CHINA" tires, but it's a 1987 Honda ATV that is basically used as a mule, and I wasn't about to spend loads on expensive tires. Imagine my surprise, then, when I went to look at these tires.
There, molded into the sidewalls, were the words: "MADE IN USA". Needless to say, I bought four of 'em on the spot. Isn't it a sign of the apocalypse, though, when one can buy something cheap AND made in USA (or Canada)?
So anyway, a couple of pics of the bike with the new American boots and cleaned/painted rims:
Good to hear... American economy FTW! lol
Where's the turbo?:headbang:
LOL he said power fist LOL hahahah
I'd say. Nothing is made in Canada. We just sell all of our resources and buy them back as finished products. We make hokey players, beer, and maple syrup.
so have you tested there traction in the mud yet? LOL.
Not yet. There's 40 MM of rain expected tomorrow, so the opportunity should present itself...
Oh dear God theres no hope for you.....
Shawn! They are speaking in tongue again!!!!
about .5" for you yanks, lol.
uhhh.... no
25.4mm = 1"
so a little over 1.5"... 1.5748031496062992125984251968504" to be *too* exact.
Pretty bad when a "Yank" has to school a Canuck on metric conversion :hick:
i hate metric !!!
Metric is way better than standard! No fractions!!!!
Besides if you were taught Metric like we are taught Standard you would be fine!
Yes. Moving decimal points is a good time.
meh, I was tired and not thinking straight. Just goes to show, it aint JUST our tongue, some of you guys can understand it. LOL
I know metric, but ive been taught standard till freshmen year. I'm quite good at guessing bolt sizes till I find out they are metric!!! Hence why i love my stang over my lincoln!
