I'm fed up with not having a reliable form of transportation. When I sold the Cougar I was planning to have the TC up and running in a matter of weeks. Well that was before I decided to replace everything I had already purchased and killing my budget. We have had this at work for some time now. Its getting ready to hit the 60 day mark.. So that means it will be sold for little more than cost. I'm going to jump on it. Not optioned out all that well.. No moonroof :( But it has 107k miles so not all that bad.. And it has a 5.0 of course :) Its amazingly clean.. Not a spot inside or out. I only live two minutes away from work and when I go back to school (hoping to be registered for classes in the next couple of weeks.) I'm still driving only 20 minutes to class.. Not to worried about MPG..

nice!!
Oh man......gonna try to hold it in.........................
Ok I cant anymore DIBS on the heads and intake if it gets wrecked!!!!!!!!!!!!! :giggle: :giggle: :flip: I cant help it ever since I found out about that I keep hoping someone I know will wreck one or the motor goes out and they cant get it running again and junk it.
that's a nice grab.
Those sucks gas like a.....
Ask me , i have a V6.....
Anyway, welcome to the club....
Tell us, how much does it cost to you, looks nice and clean....
Well dealership cost is $4500.. And since its almost a 60 day car it will be sold for little over cost.. Like $100 over cost.. I should know, I'm the one who lists the 60 day cars on the online auctions ;)
Looks like a '99-'01 somewhere...cool. Go for it bro.
Since you live so close to work, gas won't really be an issue. Trust me, I know all about that...I put a whopping 35 miles a WEEK on mine. It's nice to fill up the tank once a month. ;) And for the record, I'm still getting a consistent 22mpg on the highway with 134K, and in need of a tune-up, trans fluid change and front half shafts. These things are ed tough. Hey, it's a 5-liter, good 4R70W trans, 8.8" Traction-Lok rear with 3.73's, and AWD. What's not to love!
Plus you'll have a sweet parts hauler now. That is just a godsend right there. It's changed the way I do things; I'm sure John will concur.
Its listed as a 98, does that not look right?
I've always owned a truck until the Fox stint. I CAN'T STAND IT. Not having a truck is killing me. I wonder how long it will be before I haul an engine home in the back of it.
LOL...yeah, you will do that. ;)
I haven't had any luck finding a '98 brochure so I can't really say for sure what's "correct"...I usually do go by the colors though. I can't seem to find any sites that do a year-by-year comparison on the Mountaineer. The '98s (and maybe '99s) were, AFAIK, all two-tone. So that could definitely be a '98, I just can't confirm it. It still looks clean nonetheless.
It is very clean.

:D as soon as i started reading, those very thoughts came to mind ,, then i scroll down and you did all the leg work for me,,,lol
go for it man,, sounds like its going to solve a problem for you. Yes, you will likely have all kinds of parts in the back. You'll prob be smart enough to find the best of tarps to keep back there though.
I suspect this was owned by gentleman in his forties. Hard to confirm that without a close up of the keyhole on the driver door but judging from the interior this was definately not a woman's daily driver.
Good find.
What makes you say that Mayham?
No Kool-ade stains on the apholstery. Back seat looks barely used. Carpet not stained.
Now, the confirmation for it is to look at the drivers side keyhole and the paint around it. If it's scratched all to hell, it was a womans car. All that stuff they normally have dangling from their keyrings tends to leave telltale marks.
Granted, there are exceptions to the rule, but 90% of the time you can count on those signs.
You don't want the intake. It's a non EGR style. The heads will work though as thta's what I have;)
Nice find. Now just don't let it go all to hell driving it every day;)
I brought the thing home from work today.. Drove it to another job site about an hour away from here. Very nice driving. Not one bit of play in the steering, it also has bilstien shocks on it. Handles the highway pretty nice. Shame I have to give the keys back in the morning :( I might just have to buy this thing.
The reliability issue is why i bought the 99, none the less good catch i have never really liked Suv's tho.
Well she is going to be mine. My granpa called and said he would co-sign if needed. He wants his truck back :)
i did it too. :hick:

go get it clwd!!
Oh noes!!!!!!!!!!!
i know! :flip:
i couldnt resist the lure of a real backseat for the kids.......im not a 4wd guy at heart anyhow, its time for the ranger to go.
Welcome to the dark side, guys. ;)
Geesh at least my DD is still a CAR;)
Go for it. The day after 96 Carlisle, I was hauling around a Snapper push mower in my Cougar's trunk with bungies and my spoiler holding the rear deck down. Today, I load up the back end of my Ex with leaf blowers, weed wackers, chainsaws, fertilizer and stuff and go to town. In two weeks, I will be using it to move.
Not only that, but Mercoug302 says my Ex is like a Mark VIII with AWD.
5.0 AWD and Mark VIII vehicle monitor FTW!
Its matter of time you´ll see a post "Show US YOUR SUV".....
Even more "Show us your Mounty/Explorer"....
Better yet "Show us your empy wallet"....
I pick it up monday :)
cool beans! we can have a playdate and take their picture together on the 7th :giggle:
Well she is mine.. drove her home tonight. I really like this Mounty. Gota find a rubber liner for the back so I don't get the carpet dirty.
Good luck with it. I have a Husky liner for the back end, it has a 2" lip on it. It'll probably hold a few gallons of water if it needed to.
Yay! Pictures!
Do the Turbo-Tech tires make it faster?
Nice machine, Claude.
That's me in the background. Yay!
b-e-a-utiful. i cant wait to pick mine up!
Nice!! Throw a turbo on it hahhaa!
