Could an 87-88 TC come "without" systems sentry? And could an 88 Sport/XR-7 come without systems sentry?
My 87 Sport has no systems sentry for what it's worth.
The Ford brochure says system sentry is standard on all 87/88 TC's. However Carm has had one without it.
The 87 Sport would have a digital dash.... I'm interested in the 88 cars with the buttstuffog dash.
I'm curious to know if the cars in question came optioned as I ask.. if so that would mean there are more dash harnesses than I had previously thought.
My 88' has no system sentry.
As AM said, my '87 parts TC did not have systems sentry. I've got the blank lighter panel installed in my T-Bird
My '88 doesn't have system sentry but has the full digital dash.
The '88 XR-7 that I saw for sale a while back had system sentry and the buttstuffog dash as did a black '88 XR-7 I saw at a local dealer.
According to the dealer order books, the systems sentry was standard equipement on '87-'88 Turbo Coupe and became standard in 1988 on the XR-7.

I'm assuming the only way to get an '88 XR-7 without system sentry was to get one with a full digital dash then.
It makes sense since the system sentry displays basically the same information that the digi dash does.
My '88 XR-7 has full buttstuffog, and the sentry. What fred says makes sense Probably could only get it with the buttstuffog gauges.
Yeah I know the buttstuffog cars would be the only ones to come with the system sentry panel..
Carmen does that dash harness out of that 87 tc have the plug for the system sentry.?
My 88 sport has the sentry, and from what is indicated on the window sticker it was standard eqipment on a sport.
Possibly it was optional in CA, but I've never seen a 87-88 TC without it(that wasn't butchered)... All the ones I owned had it...
There were no plugs or harnesses behind that panel except the little blue wire (and its ground) that clips onto the cig lighter and a bulb with holder to clip onto same.
That is definitely a possibility - Canadian cars had A/C optional, so it's not a stretch to think Systems Sentry may have been as well. My parts TC was pretty basic - it had the power stuff that was standard equipment in 87-88 TC's (windows/locks/driver's seat/mirrors), premium sound w/o EQ, and auto climate control, but not much - if anything - else. It actually had fewer options than my 87 Sport had.
