Title: Dying cat

I have four more too.  This is bs, she's only about 6 or 7 years old.  The suspected problem is liver disease or something.

After the other four die, that's it. I can't keep going through this .

Not looking for sympathy posts, just felt like venting.

I'd take the cat to the Vet and have it put down so there's no more suffering.hard to do,but I hate to see an animal suffer. It does suck.I've been through it too.

I have lost a lot of pets over the years. I have one cat now and it will be the last. I no longer fear outliving my pets. My bigger fear is that they will outlive me.

That's BS, BTW - all it'll take is a kitten looking at you in that way that only kittens can and you'll have more cats. We cat lovers are stupid like that (and cats know it)

I think theres something wrong with the food still.  Both my wifes indoor cats are puking

on indoor  / outdoor cat puked yesterday.

A stray momma shows up and her kittens make a home here.  We switch up on food for them and for some reason they are'nt jumping on this brand food,,,,,,,neither are the racpuppiess.

another food issue i think.

Thanks everyone. She has been at the vet for several days and we went there today to get an update and see her.
She can't hold herself up and barely wants to eat.  She will be staying at the vet at least for a few more days.

I saw John Davis, the host of Motor Week, at the vet.  Guess they have a cat and go to the same vet we do.

I posted a thread about seeing him in my old neighborhood last year: http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=7901

I had to watch my dad suffer until he dies a couple of months ago, we treat our pets better.  I really wanted to put him out of his suffering and he wanted it too.  Nothing we could do.

By the way I love cats and its terrible when I loose one.  We loose most of ours to the Coyotes.

Here's to hoping for the best. That's definitely one of the friendliest, sweetest cats I've ever met and it would be a shame to lose her so young.

Well, $1000 later, she's still with us.  No telling how soon this will come back.  She's still gaining energy back and still not fully recovered.

Could this be antifreeze poison?  Got any neighbors that hate cats?

Glad to hear that she's doing fine.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Losing a pet is never easy. If it's any consolation, which I know it isn't, at least she lived another 18 months since your first post. 18 happy months, I like to hope.

If I may pry, was her death related to her illness of Sept '07?

I had a cat that had a liver condition that led to her passing as well in late 2004....She was 10....We rescued her as she was abandoned at a hotel my wife used to work at in 1998.  She gave birth to 4 kittens shortly after we took her in.  We still have 2 and my wife's parents have the other 2.

My condolences and sincerest sympathy.

Sometimes its easier to let them do it themselves like that.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Pets are hard to lose.

If anyone has seen Marley and Me who has lost a pet, it makes you feel like it just happened all over.

no, I dont want to find it as I know it would crush me....  When my last cat died, it felt like I lost a best friend....  at least this way I can kind of hope it is just on a walkabout, and may come home sometime...  :(

I didnt want to let it die, but I am laid off and cant find any work right now, and cant afford a vet bill...

She had developed diabetes and so my wife has been giving her insulin shots every 12 hours for several years.  The issue she had 18 months ago was more challenging to resolve because she was a diabetic cat.  We paid all the vet bills over the years to keep her around and paid for the insulin and special food and all that stuff needed to keep her blood levels as "normal" as possible.
She had recently developed teeth problems which called for the need to remove some rotting teeth or else that combined with diabetes could cause more problems. So, my wife took her to the vet for a fairly routine procedure of having the decaying teeth removed. The vet had suggested this so she followed their suggestion.
Our cat was fine, she had recovered from that near death thing 18 months ago.  However, she was diabetic.  I guess there is also a risk with any cat going under anesthesia and perhaps the diabetic blood levels make for a precarious balance of variables that just did not sustain. So, one day she was at our house purring and rolling on her back letting us pet her belly and the next day she was dead at the vet.
