Well, since there's a surge in people showing their other vehicles, why can't I? So, before I show them, I'll just say that they are both Jeep Comanche's. One's an 86 and the other is an 88. The 88 is going to be seeing some changes over the next year or so, as is the 86. The 88 will be going lower than it is now, and the 86 will be lifted. Anyways, here they are.

I think you all can figure out which one is which, but the black and silver one is the 86. It has the GM 2.8L carbed V6 with 4wd and a 3spd auto in it. The blue one with the racerback and visor on it is the 88. It has a 2.5L FI I4 with 2wd and a 5spd manual in it. These are the reason I don't have hardly any money for another cat or *sigh* bird. Just Empty Every Pocket, they got that one right.
Yep those are some jeeps. I think part of the just empty every pocket it right for the ones with the GM motors. Those 2.5L's are dogs, The 2.8L isn't much better. You need to slap a 4.0 in those. I've had mine for 100,000 plus miles and nothing major I even bought it with 125,000 already on it.
I remember those. You don't see many of them around here anymore. They rusted pretty bad:hick:

Well, the 86 is going to be getting a FI swap from an S10, so I'll get a lil more power and mileage out of it. The 88 is getting a whole new motor in it, not a 4.0 though, it's getting a 350 TPI in it.:D
Yes, there's not many left now. They rusted terribly on the floors, and above the wheel wells, luckily mine are pretty solid. The 88 is a Texas truck that just came up to WI in 95, and the 86 is originally a North Dakota truck that so far has been to both coasts, and now in WI.
What year and package was his? And also, what happened to it?
Don't get me started on that. :beatyoass: Our '93 GC 4.0L HO has cost us more in repairs within the first year than the truck itself did when we bought it. The only drivetrain related repair was a popped tranny line. Jeeps aren't cheap to own. Why can you never keep shocks in the rear of these things? And why does every 4.0L have a ticking head? They all sound like bloody diesels.

Ugghhhh a 350? Come on a 304 or a 401 or even a 258 would be much sweeter and turn many more heads!
You must have got a bad one. Mine still runs great with the 240,000mi that are one it. I have replaced the starter, alt, and the exhaust manifold, radiator, after market tranny cooler. That is it besides oil changes and basic stuff. Sorry to hear about your luck. Oh yeah the ticking noise it to let you know you are driving a jeep. And you have a Grand Cherokee not a Cherokee that is half your problem. Once again I have twice as many people buying parts for the GC compared to the Cherokee. That is funny seeing how I think they sold more Cherokees than the GC. Oh well I only have one because the wife had to have it.

I dont even bother to keep it cleaned up anymore because if you do ANYTHING to it, Something breaks.
Guess it's a sign that we need to get her a new car when theres always at least 10-15 caravans at the local junkyard. :hick:
Id take a turbo caravan. Theres a guy around here with one built up with the 16v "Maserati" head that absolutely screams. Sleeper. Guys always buzzing through traffic with the BOV going. Everyones like 'huh?'

Yea the turbo caravans are pretty awesome, I've only seen one at the yard... and It was STRIPPED CLEAN.
Mom's is a 3.8EFI V6, Manual says 140hp... It's got good accel and the engine is strong, But everything else on the car falls apart or breaks.
And it has factory defective undercoating/primer that makes everything peel down to it, You would need to strip the entire car down to bare metal and start over to get the paint to stop from peeling... And it's common in the early caravans apparently.
They keep the cherokees over with the caravans at the local yard. :hick

WOW, I never expected this to make it to a second page. I figured I'd get about 5 comments on it, and it would die off. Huge thanks guys. No problems at all with getting off topic, I actually kinda like it in this thread. Romeo, the blue 88 is going to be a groundpounder as well as being lowered. I'm hoping to run the 1/4 as fast as Ted with his caddy/bird :D . Yea, the ZJ's (grand cherokees) are notorious for failure, whereas the XJ's (basic cherokees) hold up to some serious , but with the 4.0 are known for head and valve cover issues. When I'm done with them, I'll have the best of both worlds; lifted for rock crawling and mudding, and lowered with muscle for the street and strip. That caravan with the masarati head sounds like fun too.
Oh, our old '91 Cherokee was a trooper. Still couldn't keep rear shocks in it, and the head ticked even worse than the GC, but it ran like a top and was SO much more powerful. Well, not likely more powerful, but it had half as much truck to push around. My biggest regret was 'upgrading', but the '91 was side-swiped, and we needed a decent looking rig for a company vehicle.
Wow, I'm sorry man, I honestly missed your reply.:hick: The main reason I want to put a 350 in it is for the simplicity of it. 350's are readily had, and nowadays cheap to pick up. Plus the huge aftermarket for them as well as the fact that there's a company that makes the motor mounts to convert a Jeep's motor mounts over to a 350 motor mounts. Yea, I'm going to take the wussy way out, and get away with lil to no fab work to put the motor and tranny in, but as I live in an apartment, and only have a storage unit as a work space, it'll be easier to do.
New updates and plans. The '86 is now gonna end up with a 4.uh oh out of a '90 Cherokee, as well as the grey interior. The '88 has just been lowered in the front, and I have a set of racing seats to put into it when I get time to build the brackets for it. Here's the new pics of the stance, and the seats. Enjoy, or not, you're choice. Just thought I'd let everyone know I hadn't died off yet and share what I've been up to lately.
