This is what keeps me from going crazy on the bird. Hate to say it, but this one means alot more to me than the bird aswell.
So heres the full story.
This is my 1972 Buick Riviara GS. Brand new leather, bucket seats, aircraft style center consel shifter, 455ci big block 750 quadrajet, dewl exast, the only thing that makes this thing not original is that it was converted to electronic ignition. Im going back to factory stock, but will most likely leave the duraspark on it. I hate points!
I am the 3rd owner of this beast, my grandpa gave it to me 2 years ago. This is the first car I ever drove, and am proud to say the first car I ever spun the tires on:)
the resto should be done by the end of next year(crosses fingers)
before the motor pooped out on me, every time I parked the car it drew a crowd. Shes a realy big car, and one hell of a head turner. People eather have no idea what it is and are full of questions, or know exactly what it is and want to buy it! the anser will always be a resounding NO! well thanks for letting me share, I cant remember if Ive ever posted pictures of it here or not.

Nice 'Bu!! I love old cars with family history. How long has it been in yours?
Im 25, and its been his sence before me!
Nice car, but the bumper sticker ruins it.:hick:
I know this might hurt your feelings alittle but there was one in the derby here this year.
I bet it did great, these things are solid! the front bumper is gone becouse my grandpa used it to destroy a lincon town car!lol old lady ran a red, and pulled out infront of him. Took the front of the towncar OFF! as for the buick, lets just say it didnt even move the hood gaps! now thats steel!
Well that depends on who ya ask :D :flip: j/k
NICE Buick. Love the boattails myself. Glad its a 72 and not a 73. The gubmint bumper regulations made the 73 rear a lot more flat and bland, the 71/2 ones are much more pr0nounced and beautiful IMO.
Stick to your guns, dont ever get rid of it! I'm sure your grandpa is so happy that you're interested in it. Also really cool that its the first car you ever drove. You must love the sound of that 455. Im jealous.......oh boy am I jealous. Grrr! Not just a riv but a GS riv!!! Grr even more!!! Have fun!!!!!!
Ya its in real good shape, There is a guy in town who has two, and when he saw mine, he went nuts! he couldnt belive the shape its in, minimal rust, and only missing one peace of crome, and a front bumper. It actualy sounds fairly muted, due to the factory style exast. That is going to change soon. Even though I want it to look stock, I cant handle it sounding stock! Every man has his limits;)
Yeah I was gonna say why restore it its beautiful!!!!
And uh....yeah you better open that up!!!! I felt like my cougar was a bird in a cage with that stock exhaust LOL I seriously felt bad for it!!! :giggle: So now I feel okay about myself because it is obnoxiously loud.
Though impractical the best way to hear that 455 would be straight pipe all the way back:evilgrin:
Run two straight pipes out the back from the headers with a set of glasspacks you want loud... You could hear me in my 78 Eldorado coming a mile away.(maybe 2). it sounded insane I started it at night when I was first done i had a few neighbors come to the windows they didnt know what the hell was going on.
My stepfather had one of those in that color with those rims and a 455. The motor up and died on it in a mall parking lot when I was like 11. If he had known what they might be worth.........
Don't we all say that about something??
Nice Buick. I've always liked those old Rivs. Please keep the wheels. They look sweet:D
I've always wanted a '64 riviera lowered and in red....but alas, i settled on a '62 Merc... Yours is pretty nice.
Pretty cool ol car
Nice car! Its awesome you are restoring it, especially with family history. I have too many of those type of cars to redo. My grandpa has a 58 Tbird he wants me to finish, just needs interior, my dad wants his 53 Chevy done, and his Chevelle. My first car was in the family before i was born, the Cougar.
That's in really good shape considering the age and lack of anti-rust technology they had back then.
I like those urban assault vehicles from the 70s. Gotta few myself.
:rollin:LOL That's pretty funny that you say that! That's what my friends call them!
