I've picked up a 3G Alternator and was thinking i should go with an electric fan now.
The Metal Belt fan freaks me out anyway. :hick:
To keep costs down i would like to do this with junkyard parts, But i need some clarification as to what models and years that have the electric fan will bolt onto my stock '84 radiator.
Will any year fox Mark VIII fit? And will anything else fit other than just the elusive Mark cars?
And does anyone know if the stock relay for the elec fan will work on the swap, Or will i need to buy one from a previously mentioned site?
Thanks :D
I have a weird peice I found one day, a Ford Windstart dual fan on mine. It will be replaced by a raus 3.8 fan soon enough
What in the Sam Hill does this have to do with his question? At least try to say something relevant or witty.
I need two copies of most of your posts.
One to take a dump on and one to wipe my cornhole with.
Romeo2k, is this for the 3.8L in your signature?
And I answered with what I have. If it makes you fell Better Jeremy,
You can use a lot of different fans. A few to name are
3.0 Taurus fans
3.8 Taurus fans
If you can find one, a dual wind star 3.8 fan
Mark 8
And just about anything else that will fit onto your radiator.
The way I see it, you can make anything fit if your willing to make a bracket for it

Sometimes it is better just to hold you tongue.
I nominate that for post of the month :hick:
I put one from a taurus,I think it was a 3.0?,It's wired to the low side for now.Would melt the fuse on high.It works great with the cheap fan control.Tried to run it thru a selenoid ,na thats when it melted the fuse.
Read, remember, and use:

When I installed my Mark VIII fan, I bought an install kit for it from AutoZone(Thanks Vinnie!). It works like a champ. But I need the 3g alternator too. I would go with the Mark VIII fan. It pushes so much air its retarded. They are cheap on ebay.
Yes it is.
Missed that when i searched, thanks.
Hmm... I'll play around with the wiring/fueses and solenoids~Hopefully wont cause any damage in the process. >.<
Thanks! I might be able to get a fan out of an 85 Mark VII~Would it have an elec fan though?
Thanks, Any idea of the part number for the autozone kit? And how much was it?
Yea i would like to go with a Mark VIII at some point, But im slightly low on funds right now~So im trying for a junkyard swap.
Marks are extremely rare around here, But the local yard is like a giant Taurus graveyard. :hick:
yea mark VII are cursed with the same clutch fan.
hmm i might just wait until i have the funds for a MarkVIII setup from ebay or something, The taurus fans look kind of odd.
However, Would a Taurus SHO fan be any good?
They apparently have 2 fans in one shroud, Dif sizes though... Heres one on ebay:

Theres an '89 SHO at the local yard, Would it have the same style fan? anyone know?
Thanks, Any idea of the part number for the autozone kit? And how much was it?

I will check my receipt and get it for you. I gotta run to a doctors appt. for the wife and kid so will do it when I get back. I am thinking it was like 25 bucks or something. Not bad. Comes with everything to mount it and wire it.

Awesome Thanks.
Yea, Im just gonna hold out for a MarkVIII fan and the autozone install kit, Unless i find out theres something great about the SHO fan.
A Taurus fan will be plenty. There's a write up on the whole swap on the FordMuscle forumThey said the fan was even good enough that one of the guys uses one on his supercharged 5.0.They tested it in some wicked extreme heat and let it idle with the a/c for quite some time for a real world test.I have two of them in my garage along with a Mark VIII fan.I grab them when I can.
Alrighty, I got mine at advanced auto I guess. its 26 bucks and part # is 226206. It has a pre-set thermostat that will kick the fan on automatically, but, like Vinnie, I wired a switch to mine to make sure it is on all the time.

Just a though but......I still have the clutch fan. I replaced my stock clutch with a HD (police spec) type. Really it works quite well. When it's 90* out and I have the A/C on 70* the temp never goes above 4 bars. If you can find a HD clutch for the 3.8 (the one I picked up for my 5.0 was ~$45) you might be surprised at how well it works. I also still have the stock 2 core radiator. I'm wondering how well it will work with a 3 core:D
Yea, on one of the MarkVIII write ups they show you how to put a key on ign switch trigger in. :hick:
I went the the advance website and entered the item number, It came up with: "Imperial Radiator Fan Motor part#226206 - $35.99" is that the correct part?
Hmm i'll look into it, thanks.
And does anyone know how much air this:
moves? are it if it moves more or less than a single taurus or MarkVIII assy or has better circulation?
It's the Taurus SHO shroud fan setup, The little fan almost looks reversed?... I should head up to the junkyard and see if that '89 SHO is still there.
Hows a '96 Mustang Electric Fan compared to a taurus? would it even fit?
A red 96 Mustang just showed up in the yard, wayyyyy before its time. :punchballs:
The SHO was gone~sent off the the crusher.
Well i picked up an E-Fan, No clue if it can get it to fit/work... But it was so beefy and tempting. :hick:
As i was getting kicked out of the yard (closing time lol), I passed that 94 Ford Probe i got the spoiler off of last time, Someone had been playing around in the engine and the Electric Fan was hanging over the side of the engine bay... And was that a badass looking fan... I quickly grabbed it up.
I'm not sure if it's aftermarket or not, The car had alot of performance stickers and a few aftermarket engine parts.
But it looks just like this:

Anyone know if i should even bother getting this work in my 'Bird?
