Title: So I'm at work...
Post by: DMC24guy on August 28, 2007, 02:02:16 AM
Working outside in the Garden Department when all of a sudden in the corner of my eye I spot something. It appears to be a dark blue Turbo Coupe at the far end of the parking lot. I run outside, ignoring the customers around me to check it out. I can see the car circling around the far end of the lot kind of where my car was parked. Then it appears to park right next to my car. At this point, I figure the occupants must be in the know.

Two people get out. An older guy and woman, maybe in their late 40's to early 50's. Both of them are glancing over my car, pointing at it, and muttering stuff to themselves. I was hoping to chat with them, but they never made it over to my side of the Building.

The good news is that I was able to convince a fellow worker with a Cell-phone camera to snap a few pictures of proof that this actually occurred. What I can gather from the photos is that it's a 5 speed and that it's blue.

theres about 10-20 that run in my sorta big city of around 200,000 people as far as TCs but for those years theres only about 30-40 that run at all.

Theres about 5 or 6 fixed up which is kind of cool.

That almost nevers happens nice to see you got a few pics of it both nice cars and well kept up.

Why do they have those big tree planters in the middle of the parking lot?

My car wouldn't clear the "curb" around it and I'd have to park all funny in such a spot.

I took off my Mud Guard a long time ago, so I have a little more clearance. As for the Trees in the parking lot....It's called shade...and living in Tucson, AZ...AKA...The desert....it's necessary. Trust me.

I would have left the site address on his car, but like I said, I never actually got to look at the car up close. A friend took the pictures.

Because it gets up to about 350 degrees in the summer. Shade is king!

I traveled to Tucson for a conference in July two years ago. The first spots to be taken in the lot were those by the trees. Even the spots 100 yards from the exhibition hall were taken before the front row was full.

It's a dry heat though. I'll take 110 in Tucson over 95 in Alabama.

Yeah...except from July until late September...that's when the Monsoon humidity moves in. It feels like a Sauna for those three months. And when it doesn't rain in the afternoon...it just feels miserable.

It's ok though, we get mainly 70-80 degree weather all winter long for the most part. It's funny how a lot of you guys have to wait until spring or summer to work on, or even drive your cars....while here, it's totally opposite...Winter is great!

If you thing the monsoon humidity is bad, try Alabama. If you think Alabama is bad, try Houston or New Orleans. Don't get me wrong, desert heat will kill you with a quickness, but the deep South's humidity makes being outside far more miserable.

I've always been the one to park beside the Fox car... Way cool to have someone do it to you!

I have to agree, somewhat. I went back to Alabama for 4-days and I thought to myself... GET ME OUTTA HERE!!!! Get back to MI, a nice 72 degrees. Much better, I think I will stay for a little while.

Granted the record breaking temps didn't help any. But the humidity magnifies horridly. I pitied anyone without A/C in their ride. Or those with leather seats. I pity me. lol.

Hell, just walking from the house to the garage (about 20 feet) almost required a change of clothes from sweating. That  humidity is nuts! lol... I remember looking at a friends Mustang and we popped the hood for a sec. I look over at him a few minutes later and he is soaked! Sweat, dripping off his face and everything. WTF! You don't want to do shiznit in that type of weather, it just drains you. Ugh!

Been out West a few times, hot as hell, but I didn't feel drained. If I had to choose I'd choose East. Earthquakes, scorpions, and Paris Hiltons I fear more than hurricanes, tornadoes, and spiders.

Yes, but for every bad aspect of life out here, there are always the positive aspects. NO hurricanes or Tornadoes, no quakes (Here in Arizona), nice 70 degree weather in the Winter, In-N-Out Burger, no Toll-ways, and lest we forget....NO RUST!!!!

MUD guard???  I hope to hell you dont mean the black plastic air deflector screwed to the bottom of the front bumper cover.  That is NOT a good idea, and your car could overheat at speed because of insufficiant flow over the radiator.  Its there for a reason.

With the big slots in it? No, I didn't remove that. And you'll be happy to know my car does not overheat, even when it does get to 110 degrees outside.

Ummm... no.  there is a black plastic spoiler  on the bottom of the bumper cover, and it deflects air up through those slots.  if you removed it, i would suggest putting it back on.  Or dont.  Whatever. if the car doesnt oveheat, then... by all means.    I'm just saying its a risk that i wouldnt be willing to take.

shiznit, somone get him a picture please.

I was wondering when somebody was going to bring that up!! Yeah, what he said!! That little lip is VERY important!! If it isnt overheating now, dont push it, it will!!  No pictures from me, I am in Pittsburgh at school.
