There's eleventy billion pictures of this car on the internet. Of every single piece and part. Do I really need to post up more? Turn to September in the FTCF calender. Hit "refresh" until the banner comes up with it. Go to 1320video.com's Member's Rides page. Go to my site. There's always the thread here under the Rides section. Or one of the Portland Meet threads.

So there's nothing wrong with it?
Title: 88 TC, all options, modified, with spares
Post by: P71 on August 27, 2007, 09:50:26 PM
Nope. It just rolled over 180,000 miles and I changed the plugs and basically spent 3 hours fixing little things and making it nice. I went out around the block for a drive and it quit. The timing belt snapped. (Don't worry, it's still non-interference). That's thanks I get for showing it a little love, and it's the last straw.

It will be running when sold.

Nope. I still love these cars. I am keeping all of my 83/84 specific stuff (cause I want another 83/84) and ABM is staying wide open. I've just had it with this particular car. 3 hours of paying attention to it should not equal me pushing it home. Shoulda gave the  thing a dude's name cause she has a time of the month...

If i had a place to park it and a little more money to fix it i would take it since i never have had any other car that my 87 T-bird and i want a 2.3 Liter kind of bad. I wish i could buy that white TC for $5,800 but i don't got money for either and that sucks but i need 2 get mine finished so i guess it might just work out.

Good luck with the sale.

Question.... Why should someone go searching for pictures of everything. What about if someone new here was interested in buying it.... they have no idea where to search for pictures, and realistically, why should they?

just sayin'....

Well if it's fixed, keep it. Too  nice to just sell off like that.;)

I think you need a three day cooling off period. Have a couple beers and you'll feel better about it in the morning.

Mashes the tempt key...

Seriously, there's a reason why back in 1992 I waited four months to land a 5.0 rather than a TC. I could have bought half a dozen TC's in that time from all the newspaper ads. I had a friend with that engine in an XR4ti and I knew then it was a money pit.

Drop a 5.0 in that bad boy...erm, girl. Done.

Post by: Prototype Services on August 29, 2007, 02:07:37 AM
There is a reason why I have been searching for a long time for a V8 Tbird and not a TC. An 85 TC got me interested in Tbirds in the first place, and especially after driving a co-worker's 86 TC when I was at Zakspeed. But working on turbo engines all day for the race team, made me a bit shy of getting one for a streetcar. I knew I would want to modify it. We eventually changed the IMSA GTP Probe over to a V-8 for cost and reliability reasons.
Swap in a 5.0 and leave your troubles behind....

I haven't ever worked on a ford turbo... but the pictures alone make it look more complicated than a 5.0, heh. :hick:

You could swap out the engine, And do a shag change on layla all at the same time. >:-)

If any engine replaces the 2.3 it's either going to start with "LS" or end with "Big Block". But I'd rather sell it and start over.
