Thanks to Antonio (Ether947) for giving me the heads up I will be heading to Stinger Performance with the TC to have some tail pipes fabbed on my car so all of us fox guys can have some custom tailored tail pipes that will fit our cars. wish me luck since this will be the longest road trip I have taken with the bird. I'll let you know what happens when I get home. :birdsmily: :cougarsmily:
nice good luck wish i would have waited to do my exhaust now.
Tails for out cars heh. Is that including the v8 cars with duals already?
i was going to take my car there to be the test mule, but i didn't already have stingers exhaust. have fun and be safe.
we should be leaving around 4pm. Fila from my experience a fox thunderbird and cougar and TC have the same underbody and can use the same tails so this should be for everyone.
so what are you getting out of the deal?
x4
Free tailpipes maybe:beatyoass: ;)
i was thinking maybe the first pair.
from my understanding I will be getting the first pair but I have to wait 2-3 weeks for him to get them anylised by his supplier so he can get them made. so about mid september I should be getting a good set of tails.
sounds like a good deal.
hell ya thats a sweet deal!
well I am back home and I had a very good time doing this Shannon is an awesome guy. I'll give more details after I get some rest. its 7am and I havent had any sleep
Cool. Glad it worked out.
Good deal on the drive! Now you can trust her a lil more!
I can't wait until these tail pipes are available, I'll probably run dumps until September when we can buy them!
I think I am going to email Stinger and show my interest in these tailpipes. Anyone else interested should do the same! Might help to build their confidence in producing these.
it took a lot of trust for me to drive mine back from ohio when i bought it. needless to say, the radio was off the whole time.
last night we got everything straightened out with my exhaust and removed those nasty tail pipes that the crooked shop here lenghtened then we got started with a fresh pair of tails. the mustang tails fit alot better than I expected they would and the only real changes that needed to be made were to the length and hangers. From what Shannon told me these should work on all of the other models as well as cougars. Overall I'm very pleased with the way that they came out and I think alot of you will feel the same.
so they're going to look just like the mustang pipes?
Sounds like longer and with the correct hangers.
i got that, but as far as looks... they look the same?
My question is will they be different sizes or one standard size? Like I have 2.5" but say Claude ( just an EX) might have 2 1/4 inch.
I'm hoping they only offer 2 1/2". Hell it would be nice if they would do 3"!!!
they are doing a 3" as well but only for the drivers side. for the dual setup they will be in 2 1/2 only I'm not sure if he is going to have them done in stainless or not we talked about many different things, he also said something about doing them in plain aluminized pipe and letting you add the tip of your choice
Any talk on prices. Last I saw, a flowmaster aluminized set of stang GT tails was like ~$110 from summit
price will be discussed when they return from the supplier. as far as the hangers they might be upto the buyer due to the different styles on the different years of birds
Yeah the 87-88's have different hanger placement than the 4 eye's. Plus only the 88 v8 cars had passenger tail hangers. I know 5 speed 88 tc's had passenger hangers.. but I dont know about the 5 speed 87's.
Sounds good. Great job Graham!!!!!!
dont thank me, thank Antonio for giving me the heads up.
this sounds awesome, i can't wait to see what the outcome as far as pricing and material is for theses. i would love a set of 2.5in duals.
i assume they are gonna be mandrel bent? not crush?
this is straight from NATO if any of you are following it over there.
I'm about to finish up lenthening some 2 1/2 Fox Body Mustang GT style (turn down) tailpipes for my car. I had to lengthen them about 9 in on each side. 2 1/2 tailpipes are a tight fit on these cars, especially on the passenger side, due to the huge gas tank brackets welded to the underbody. I had to some clearancing on the passenger side tailpipe in order to get mine to fit. Hopefully Stinger makes a few changes to these areas for better fitment. It will be nice to have some "off the shelf" exhaust parts for our cars
this is why we used sn95 tails, they are a direct fit except for the length
Looks like Stinger has the tailpipes in stock now.

Got any pics with them on your car Graham?
sn95? I thought that fox mustang pipes were direct other than the length. I am wrong?
I bought a set of 2 1/2 inch Fox Mustang tails from Ebay (new pipes) withno tips or turndowns (which is what I wanted due to the tips I was adding),and they fit great.I had them extended just a few inches in the rear for the tips to end up where I wanted them.
SN95 , Fox, and '99-04 tailpipes are all exactly the same. The only difference is the hangers.
I had to "dimple" the pipe as they say on my passenger side, but otherwise they went in fairly well. I had more problems getting it to fit right around the gas tank on the passenger side.
I'm also curious as to how well his pipes fit, because if they don't fit any better than Mustang pipes...well, considering the price, I wouldn't buy them.
If anybody has pics of these tails actually installed-can you guys please include pics from both sides of the car.
Ken
Stingers website is not working-Does anyone have any info on what happened?
I have mine installed but I need to have a ler hanger welded so they will fit right but the do fit well.
If you have the duals please post a pic. Don't the tails have the little hanger attachment already installed?
Ken
pic will come soon once I get them adjusted alittle better, as for the hanger they do not have one due to the difference in the hangers from 83-88.
Thanks for the info-waiting for the pics
Thanks
Ken
Im very interested in the Stinger tails as well...I wonder if they are a direct fit for the 88 tbirds ? Also, do they make an h pipe that will fit ?
the tails are a direct fit for 83-88 tbirds and cougars, they do not make an H-pipe but any mustang one will work with extended flow tubes. Also the stinger tail pipes are made to be used with offset/offset lers.
I bought 2 1/2 inch Generic, mandrell bent Mustang tails. No tips or turn downs, just cut flat on the ends. I got them for $50 brand new on Ebay and they fit great. No issues. BUT, I'm always on a wicked budget as well.
I have stinger tails on my bird and they fit awesomely definitely worth the money. I had mustang tails before with 12" long exhaust tips they worked too, just didnt like the fitment and having them rigged the way i had to they work though
If you read this entire post I'm sure you saw that the stinger tails were fabbed on my old silver turbo coupe. I still have the original mock up tail pipes.
