Looks like a new Chrysler Sebring:
I'm sure Chrysler will be pleased.
On one hand, it's so satisfying to see the once-high-and-mighty take a huge fall. On the other hand, that only makes Toyota stronger in this market segment.
Either way, I just threw up in my mouth a little.
Thoughts?
I dunno, I never go to the Mall... May just buy an Impala...
Seriously, looks a Helva lot better than most of Chrysler's offerings(or Ford's)... See Above...
Hideous...
/shrug
they all look alike to me!
That grill on that Honda looks like it took some design cues from a New Ford Pickup.
The front doesn't look too bad on the coupe from the other pics in the link. The rest is hideous.

they all look like ass... and not in the good way.
I agree, on the coupe from the B-pillar forward it's not too bad, but the rear 1/2 of the car is not appealing to me at all.
The door handles look a little "heavy" too. Nice interior though.
Eric, your right on about the similarities of the two sedans from that angle.

:cougarsmily:
i don't know... it's alright, i guess. i wouldn't buy one.
I was thinking to myself, that looks like a newer Impala...
and I was right

So close it's not even funny.
Plus it looks like Honda tried to incorporate some Ridgeline styling cues into the accord...ewww.
I like the Accord, actually.
If they could find a way to make the rear-end sit lower...
The headlights look like new Sonota headlights.. Now thats funny, Honda copying Hyundai
*sniff* *sniff* I smell rice.
Uh, has anybody seen what Subaru is doing to Chrysler's designs?
Now those are ugly cars.

They're all just lumpy potatoes now. No charisma to most of the designs. If you notice, the only vehicles that stand out are the ones that have stayed true to their roots:
- Porsche
- Mercedes
- BMW, to an extent
- Lamborghini
- Hummer (yep, I said it)
- Corvette (at least with the C6)
Overall I think Ford is doing okay...their designs are different enough, and not much is awkward anymore. I like what Mercury has done to make their vehicles more un-Ford-like. They still need a hit, though. Lincoln...hard to say. I like the MKZ a lot, unsure about the MKX and LT pickup. Sadly, Ford is doing many good things but nobody out there seems to notice, aside from car reviewers and fans. The only car you hear about is the Fusion, and they're trying like hell with the new Taurus now. Time will tell. It does seem that Ford isn't as dire as they were, say, a year ago...but let's hope they've got more distinctive stuff in the pipeline.
I'd really hate to be a car designer right now.
All the companies should just get together and make all of the cars.... use the best parts/features for each car and put it together as one. They all look alike anyway.
haha whats wrong with the third one why is that so ugly?:D
Eric, you forgot Ferrari, I'm very disappointed in you. ;)
As for the Vette, they took a lot of cues from Ferrari on that one and for those that watch Ferrari's designs closely it's painfully obvious. Pontiac has taken theier share from Ferrari as well and most of it shows up in the Grand Prix.
If you guys could see how the industry shuffles designers around from brand to brand to brand and back again, these similarities would make a lot more sense.
A couple of excellent examples of this would be the PT Cruiser/HHR (Bryan Nesbitt) and the Passat/Five Hundred (Ian Callum).
I didn't forget Ferrari. But some of their last few cars could be mistaken from the side for a Jaguar or Aston Martin. Plus they have a 4-seater now. That's straying just a little bit from their roots, no? ;)
this is all why the newest thing I own is an 88! It would be hard to find anything out there you could mistake my 72 buick riviara for!
Actually Ferrari has produced quite a number of 4 seaters over the years. Any model with a "/4" (365GTB/4)or "2+2" (275GT 2+2) all had back seats. They have even made a few 4 door models dating back to the 400L in 1976, and believe it or not made a few (very few) station wagon versions of it. How'dja like to have a 350HP 4.8L V12 in your station wagon. ;)
As for mistaking a Ferrari for a Jag or Aston, I can see that being possible. On the other hand I can also show you the progression of design and you would see that the current models like the 599 are strongly rooted in designs that have been refined over 40 years. Look at a 360GTB then look at a 250LM. Look at a 599 then a 250GTO.
Now look at a 1961 Ferrari 250 Berlinetta Lusso and compare it to the early 70s Chevy Vega. Coincidence? Compare a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix to a Ferrari 360. Look closely at the nose and from behind the B-pillar and above the beltline. Coincidence?
Not trying to be an ass, just pointing out that Ferrari has been a benchmark of design that everyone has aspired to and imitated for more than 40 years.
Oh no doubt, all of the above is true. Since the F40 and F50, some of their designs seem, well, a little un-Ferrari-like to me. It's too easy to see other cars in them, instead of the other way around. One thing that's always true is the unmistakable front- and rear-ends. It's the sides that, to me, have sometimes been a little lacking. I'd still make room for one in my garage though LOL.
Well for midsize sedans:
Camry: ugly
Accord: ugly
Sonata: ugly
Altima: ok
Fusion: ok
Malibu: ugly
But even though it's but ugly it'll sell because it has a big *H* on it. We all know the puppiesenese cars are the only good cars out there (according to Consumer Reports:rolleyes: ).
While their body designs have not been as outlandish as some other marques lately, in fact at first glance the appear rather tame. But when you look at the details and the "Why they did this like this" it all makes perfect sense and you understand. The 599 doesn't look spectacular at first glance, but when you look closely yo see the rear glasswraps all the way around the sides but is somewhat covered up by a flying butress that flows more air of the rear deck reducing drag while increasing rear downforce. Brilliant. That is the real artwork in Ferrari. Everything does what it's supposed to without being more than it needs to be. A perfect blend of form and function.
MAYHEM,
I didn't know you were Tifosi! We need to get together at a Ferrari event over a box of Cheetos and a case of booze. ;)
Absofekkinlutely!!! :D
BTW: I've been Tifosi since I read an article about Steve McQueens 250Berlinetta Lusso when I was about 7 yrs old. (just before the Vega was touted as a design breakthrough :hick: ) I also have one of the most complete collections of HO scale Ferrari slot cars. ;)
Eh i would just buy a new Taurus and be done with it or one of the new 08 2 dr focus'.

Much prettier IMO than any of those german/rice/korean turds.
That Accord looks like a Honda Ridgeline and a last-generation Hyundai Sonata had a child...
It's a pity the new Taurus will be completely ignored by the buying public. Even Consumer Reports admits that it doesn't suck. In fact, that seems to be the consensus on the car: "It doesn't suck".
Be interesting to see how the upcoming Malibu is received. If it's better than the already excellent Saturn Aura (and all indications are it will be) GM might just have a home run on its hands...
:d :d
I love that gif. personaly i aswell love the new focus, its kinda like a the new ford interceptor mixed with the front of a re-designed focus. But when talking about focus' im the guy to talk to if i could have found a ZX-3 instead of my 99 cougar i would have scooped that sum-bitch up.
HO scale slot cars too? I have one of the most complete collections of AMC and TBird slots. Hmmmm, picture time ;)
BTW, I've been a Ferrari fan forever, my dream is a 575M Maranello. That car just has all the right curves.
Yeah, the Saturn Ion and VW Passat are at least unique looking cars. ;)
Pics at 20 paces it is. :D

BTW I just got a TycoPro Javlin a few weeks ago. Needs a serious restoration.
I have to join the group to see those :(
But TycoPro Javelins are fun, they fir on X2 chassis for racing ;)
So join. :) A lot of great stuff there.
I have a lot of TycoPro bodies mounted on 440s and HP7s.
That 4 door is the most hideous Honda I've seen yet.
I Bleed blue and hate german auto makers anything wrong with that?
I would SOOOOOO buy a Fusion. We had a nice 5 speed one at work and it was awsome! It was way overpriced though..
yeah i wish i could afford an AWD 5 speed.
Nothing wrong with hating German automakers....since I work on mostly German cars....somehow they stand for "rich" and "classy" and even "good".......so I have definitive proof they suck, are overpriced, and are junk.
All that aside...I'm waiting out for a G8....oh sweet RWD manual Sedan.
Settle down, now. I was just saying that those two cars are as much a copied design as any.
One thing about Honda is their quality. Where i work we make interior pieces and they are top notch. I've seen plastic doors on GM's with tons of flash and such on them. So dispite what you say about Honda, they are making cars in the US and they are good cars.
you have lost touch your own people and your whole state. shame on you.
besides,, buy a honda and where does that money go? your so out of touch you probably dont know. have fun screwing your nation.
Theres a ton of people out there itching to take back our pride and im one of them ,, i never lost it. Yes, the sight if an american flag gives me a chill as it sails for reasons you never learned and therefore cant understand.
i cant believe a buckey would say such a thing
