I just sold some seals for a 93 GT and was curious because the number didnt match the seals I just bought. So I pulled both sets off the shelf and lo and behold the stang rotors are bigger by and inch I was clueless. I'm having a problem with the brakes warping on my car and was hoping for a cheap upgrade. What would I have to do to put stang brakes on my Cat. Oh and does anyone know where I can get braided lines? Maybe an upgrade for the master cylinder too.
If you have a regular, non XR7 then you need the spindles and calipers from one or a TC. Stang GT/TC/Xr7 are the same brakes. Non TC/XR7/4 cyl stang are the same
Xr7's had 10" brakes.. Only 87 88 TC 's came with 11"
My 84 TC has the 10" brakes. If you really want a big brake upgrade use the Lincoln Mark rotors and Calipers on the mustang spindles. Then you would have Mustang SVO brakes. I know the coolcats tell you all about it. Oh yeah then you will need a Big Bore Crown vic M/C
Mark VII rotors are 11-inch but 5-lug. The V8 Stang or 87-88 TC rotors along with the spindles and calipers are needed to upgrade to 4-lug 11-inch brakes. The Mark VII calipers can be used with either 11-inch spindle.
I just spent all this time and money on my turbines I'd hate to have to get rid of em now and buy new wheels for a 5 lug set. Eventually I plan on putting SN95 cobra brakes in, and some Y2K cobra 5 spokes. But for now I think this would be the way to go so i dont have the added cost of wheels and tires.
Fox 11" spindles are a dime a dozen. You will have to put 1/8" spacers on each side of the spindle to make up the width for where the strut mounts.. or buy struts for a Mustang Gt. I did this upgrade on my 88. VERY big difference. And they will fit behind your turbines. :)
I kinda figured they would the wheels came from a 92 GT used for winter wheels. I'm still trying to find braided lines for up front.
Any Mustang Braided line will work.. The passenger hose for the 11" brakes bolts right to the stock fitting.. The driver side either needs the fitting changed to the mustang piece (as I did) or an adapter.
They're more like $25-$125 each (MPS salvage wants the $125  ) I just paid $100 for a pair at a local yard.
WOW you could have bought sn95 stuff for that.
which rotors and spindals are you useing ?
part number 9150s is for mustang 11 inch rotors..1987 and up
and part number for 6815 is for 86 and down mustang.. and allso all foxbody cougars.. 10 inch rotors..
the spindals and rotors do not swap if your running 11 inch rotors then you need the spindals to match..
to do an 11 inch swap you will need 87-93 mustang rotors, spindals and calipers or 87 and up mark 7 calipers,87 and up mark 7 brake hoses and an adaptor for the passinger side to get the stock brake line to thread in.. why mark 7 hoses? the mustng ones are to short..
any other questions ?

Yup, same price. I just decided I liked the Fox 11" swap better, less to change/refit. I maybe could've found them cheaper at Pick'n'Pull but this is FL and I didn't have to wrestle these in 100 degree temps. I'm gettin' too old for that stuff. ;)
