well i got this big ole roll of burgandy vinyl how would i go abouts recovering my cracked up dash i know i need the 3m spray adhesive just looking for pointers and tips on how to do this i dont wanna take the whole dash out to do it but i know its nessacary to get it to look right thanks ya!
I don't think that material will work very well.I bought a dash cap off of Ebay. It's made for covering our dashes. With a little time and tpuppies,it looks great and can be dyed any color. The vinyl is really questionable.I just don't think you'd get a decent look and I don't think it would last long either. You would somehow have to fill the cracks because the vinyl will show them underneath, and it would be a be-yotch to do the job with the dash in the car.Too many cuerves and such. The dash cap is the way to go.
i was thinking of thin foam padding then the vinyl ontop or just take all the old shiznit off ans do the padding and vinyl only a thicker pad
I'm still sticking to the idea of getting a dash cap.Soemtimes taking the cheap way ends up with results that look..........well.......cheap.Sometimes not,but I think in this case, don't do it.
It can be done. I've seen it happen in Car Audio all the time. It might be more work than a dash cap. If you want to go for it. It might be a little hard getting it streched over the dash nice and tight. Lay the material out in the sun so it gets nice and hot and strechy. If you can take a large trash bag and put the dash panel and material in them then use a shop vac to suck out all the air. That will help to form the material to the dash. It would also work once you have it glued to hold it into place while the glue dries.
