Title: Open freakin' Sesame!
Post by: tireshredder on August 15, 2007, 11:17:29 PM
Ok, there's a new Bird in my local yard, and it has a nice set of tail lights I want to grab.  Problem is, it has no battery and the keys are missing.  I don't want to pry the trunk open, cause it looks decent and  I might want it too.  Any suggestions?

Purple w/ yellow wire from the trunk pop soloniod. Run 12V through it and it should pop the trunk

i figured pounding a screwdriver in the lock might allow you to be able to turn it

For just a one or so pop  deal on that little motor you could use a 9v. Either that or you could pull the back seat and get into the trunk and use a flat blade to turn the back side of the latch. That is if the car isn't nasty and bug coated. If you look under the deck lid above the plate area you might be able to get to the clip that holds the lock in. Pull that clip out and the lock slides straight out of the deck lid. I I think those clips are riveted to the deck lid. So pry it off. Look at your car for ideas.

First get a blow torch and cut a 27.33333" hole (you must be precise here to avoid complications later) up through the gas tank and into the trunk. Now place 8.63 oz (no more, no less) of TNT just behind the trunk latch and secure it with Orangatan glue. (even better than the stuff they get from gorillas) Insert the end of a 30' cordite fuse (You'll need those extra seconds trust me) and uncoil the remainder to a safe place from which to light it. (NOTE: Do not use electronic detonators as they might look suspicious to passers by) Build a small camp fire using a truck rim as a fire ring (think safety here) and drop the free end of the fuse into it.

In a matter of moments the trunk will magically open.

you need the key in the ignition to use the electric trunk button with a working battery in the car...

Ok,, again. Jumper the purple with yelow stripe wire from the trunk botton to a batter or something, then hit the botton. It will pop the trunk. Not the ignition, you don't need it if your bypassing it.

Doesn't the yard man have a big ring of keys that fit everything?
Fila's solution sounds pretty simple to me.

9v should work. if not, get a battery booster pack, touch the wires. i've never done it, but it should work.

A thumbed sized 9v battery is about as much underkill, as MAYHEM's cuttin' and blastin' is over the top(sure be fun though)... In other words a battery that can only supply maybe .1a(thats right... A TENTH OF A AMP) has a snowballs chance in Hell of operating the release solenoid...

Just pull the trunk switch out, and apply power to the purple/yellow wire as already suggested... A portable jump box would be perfect... If you don't have one the junk yard probably does... Simple, easy and you've destroyed nothing...

I stated that I used a drill battery. I belive 14.4V. It opened it. If not I'm with TC50, the jumper box woeks perfect as well

A 14.4 drill battery would be fine as would a 12v, even a fully charged 9v drill battery would probably do it... Just not one of the small smoke detector batteries...
