I'm most likely going to get a T-Bird with a fabric interior..
I don't like fabric. lol.
I got this idea; To take the leather interior from another car and put it into a turbo coupe from another website where a guy took the interior from a 2001 Monte Carlo and put it in.. Absolutely beautiful.
Here's (http://www.turbotbird.com/showroom/GyCo_88TC.html) the link.
Has anyone else done anything like this?
If anyone knows any tutorials or has any tips that would be awesome..
Thanks
I transplanted leather seats from a TC and XR7 into mine. Dead-easy swap...
Those chevy seats look very granny to me, dont look like theyd keep you seated on a tight curve too well.
Could you show me some pictures?? I'd like to see how it looks
Jons (quietleafs) seats are sweet!
If you find some TC seats you could buy leather upholstery for them here (http://"https://elyksecurity.com/davisseatcoverscom/catalogpage.asp?category=9&level=1"). I haven't used them but someone on NATO did and had pretty good results.
I've been looking for a way to replace the leather material in my '86 XR-7 since I first bought it. I want it to look factory, but I'm not willing to spend $1,000 for it; I think that's absurd, in fact.
The Monte Carlo seats look great in that car, but I don't like the way he had to chop the arm rest on the door panel. That looks goofy.
FWIW, my brother had a first gen SHO a few years ago that the driver seat was pretty much beyond help but the passenger seat was like new. He got a shop to quote him on re-skinning it and decided it was more that he wanted to spend. The shop then told him that they could do it on vinyl instead for much less.
I am very picky about my stuff and I was extremely impressed with the results. His SHO seats had perforated leather on most of the surfaces and they matched the original perfectly and were just as soft.
After seeing the results of his car, I would have a hard time paying the money to have my seats re-done in leather. And I am sure that over time the vinyl will wear age much better anyway.

Indeed. The "Montana" color vinyl material on all of the seats is still in as-new condition. It's amazing how resilient and durable it is. The '86 spent most of its life in Florida, so the leather has the look and feel of particle board.
My 84 T-Bird has an all vinyl interior. When it was new and for about two years the out-gassing of the vinyl smoked up the windows something awful.
03-04 Cobra Mystichrome seats!
Holy hell.. Nearly one thousand dollars.
I think i'd have more fun going to a pick-a-part kind of place to rummage around for something decent and saving a kajillion dollars.
That's what i did. :hick::banana:
Perfect Dark Blue Leather seats out of an 88 XR7 for less than $60!
And the last time i went, They had a freaking 97 BMW (Not sure what model) with leather interior but someone had got the drivers seat and rear already.
Never know what you'll find at the junkyard, I love scavenging around. :hick:
:iagree:
You never know what you can find until you start looking. I saw a set of 25th anniversary seats this past week with leather inserts. The leather hadn't been taken care of so it had cracked bad, but no tears and no wet mildew smell. The car was all closed up, the yard took care of stuff like that.
What interiors will fit into a turbo coupe? Basically anything with nearly the same sized seats?
...?
Are seats like.. An almost universal thing?
So i'm going to be buying black leather seats from a 2000 Monte Carlo with power and seat warmers..
What will I need to take out for the power seats and heating?
How about the floor tracks?
I'm feeling curious one day at the JY while I'm at it. I've had my eye on a cadi' with pristine white leather seats that from the looks will match my car front and back. Wether they will fit however I duno
As to the answer to the " universal seats" thing.. sorta. If your dedicated and crafty you can make any seat work. However the only seats that will drop onto your stock brackets with no problems are any fox seat, and 94+ mustang seats. Anything other then that you'll be making an adapter to use your stock tracks
You could probably have your whole interior redone in the factory leather/vinyl combo for about ~$1,800 or so. Worth it in my opinion.
Well if I get the black leather seats, it will match everything else inside because it's blue/black and the seats are the only thing with blue on them.
1800 is pretty far out of my league anyways.
