Title: Carl and Kingcars hanging out
Post by: Carl on August 09, 2007, 03:15:30 AM
These were taken back when I was on leave to get the Cougar. Kingcars and I met on this forum and turned out being good friends now.

Well here are the pics, I will let Kingcars tell you the story about my Digital Camera "Problem".

Man, I was about to ask when you were gonna post these!  That front bumper pic turned out great.

As for the camera problem, it started when Carl's Cougar was having problems shifting.  Figuring it was the TV cable, we started messing with it in that parking lot, and Carl sat the camera in the driver's side front headlight bezel.  Several hours later (and about 30 minutes away from where the pics were taken), we realized we never took the camera.  I figured it had fallen out when he stopped to turn out of that lot, so that's where we looked and that's exactly where it was.  The batteries fell out but it was in good shape and obviously in working order.  Good thing it was a very seldom used lot, or it would've been stolen in an instant.

That was a fun day, man, I hope we can do it again soon.  We always seem to find a way to get into trouble.  Remember the drunk guy with the 88 Cougar that said it came with an HO and that he dropped a 351 in it (even though it obviously had the stock 302 EFI intake) and wanted to race you?

Also, in the pics you can see my driver's side headlight is starting to get water trapped inside.  Does anyone know a fix for this?

DO NOT drill a hole in the bottom!  These head lights are designed to be a seal beam unit.  If it is getting moisture in it, obviously the seal has failed or is failing.  gently pull the lens off of the housing and clean, and dry the insides then RESEAL it with clear silicone.

Ive drilled holes in the bottom of all my lights on the front of my car and have no problems. Most of them already have a small hole where the lens meets the housing.

Thanks for the info, guys.  The headlights are pretty new so I dunno why it's already starting to leak.  I'm just glad there's a fix cause I thought I'd have to get new ones again.  I'm guessing that drilling a hole will allow the water to escape?  Will I have to do any cleaning myself, or will it take care of itself?

And thanks for all the compliments too.  My car was actually quite dirty that day and I washed it the next day haha.

Take a look at your headlights and tell me if they have a hole in them from the factory.....  no they dont.  your marker lights do, but the headlights are meant to be sealed, not ventilated.

Well even if they weren't meant that way doesnt mean the fix doesn't work or causes any harm.  I'll see what my dad thinks too.

Oh and one last thing I forgot...the window sticker in my rear window is for my college parking, so there's not much I can do about it.
