Title: I've really done it. I've gone and blown it up!
Post by: Thunder Chicken on August 08, 2007, 09:16:04 PM
...Well, not really, but it sure looks like it. A little boredom can be a dangerous thing - with no bodywork left to do, and while waiting for a painter to come paint it, it was time to start some of the inside work:

This is the before pic. As you can see, it's a two-tone porno red/shadow blue interior. Time to fix that :hick: Actually, my main reason for the dash swap is further down:

After about an hour it looks like this. Out with the old:

I've got a whole lot of work ahead of me straightening out that wiring harness before the new dash goes in...

Here's why I'm swapping (other than the colour):

...and then there's the damage the crackhead that stole the stereo a few years ago did:

...and the new, damage-free, crack-free dash going in (obviously it needs cleaning):

Oh man I've been down that road.. Except I changed the harness too..  well I changed to a different harness but I swapped out the harnesses with the dashes out.. I can't imagine actually feeding that  back into where it goes with the dash less than a foot from the firewall.. Ick!!!    Gona look good with that blue interior, but then again I like the porno red!

I never had a problem with pr0n red.
My red '88 XR-7 had the red interior and I loved it. Passengers would always say something about it, too.

Woah.... Not me... The dashes were wired before assembly into the cars, that looks like a night mare... Course the heater core would be a piece  O cake...

Actually, I kinda liked the porno red interior too, but my parts TC had a blue interior, meaning that if I wanted TC seats and door panels (and a crack-free dash) I'd have to switch to blue...

I did a dash swap like that.I hated it...a lot. You're getting closer all the time.I still have to finish the passenger side and roof bodywork on mine.Everyday is a little bit closer. The things we do for a 20 year old T-Bird that doesn't have much of a re-sale value.
