ok i need to change the valve cover gaskets and the lower and upper intake gaskets i know i need to remove dizzy how i i know how many degreeze i changed timing to give me some more performance....ive never messed with timing before because my last car was a 95 grand prix gtp......also how do i find TDC easy.....
Pull the dizzy cap and bump the engine till it points to #1 on the cap, then sneak up on timing mark using a wrench on the harmonic balancer to zero degrees. Mark the housing position to the block, the position of the rotor before you pull it and after. The rotor will rotate some. This way it will be easier to reinstall. As far as advancing timing on any dizzy equipped vehicle moving the dizzy housing opposite from it's normal rotation will advance it. This is best done with a timing light or a good ear if you hear engine ping. Remember to use premium fuel/octane boost when advancing timing.
To change the intake and valve cover gaskets, you really don't have to remove the distributor.I never do.
Yeah, it's not a Chevy....
I tried pulling the intake on my HO without pulling the distributor and it wouldn't come. I rotated the thing and it still wouldn't come, kept hitting the TFI. I guess maybe if you removed the tfi it would come off.
