Title: new house, new neighbors
Post by: gumby on August 06, 2007, 03:59:02 PM
moving into my new house has been an adventure to say the least. and boy am i glad to be back online!

met my closest neighbor the first day of movin in. he was in the yard with his wife's yappy mutts, and introduced himself(harold). no big doings there.
the followin weekend, i backed a u-haul trailer, with the tbird loaded on it, into the driveway. in a hurry, dropped the car, pushed it into the garage and left again. later that evening, after unloadin the truck with all our stuff, i was standin in the driveway with a buddie, drinkin a few brews, garage door open.
harold strolls over to the fence line, near enough to my drive, and points into my garage. "turbocoupe?"
at this point he has my full attention ;)

he proceeds to tell me a few stories about a 10sec, 2.3T powered pinto he used to own in the early 90's, and a lil about a turbocoupe he should have bought about 10yrs ago.
w/o punchin a bunch of holes in his pinto stories, i did think it was at least pretty cool that he knew what my car was, and that he has some knowledge about the 2.3T. hes a FORD guy, even though hes got a bunch of dodges in his driveway currently. he also has an interesting lil 2.6L dodge 4wd pickup that he is contemplatin dropin a conquest engine into.

so, at least i have one cool neighbor so far :D

that's badass!  i wish my neighbors were that cool.  i've got a quiet black family on one side and my two faced fat neighbors on the other... who feed my dogs people food from over the fence.  my son will be born in another month and a half, and we'll be in this house for a few more years, but we'll be moving by the time he goes to school.  hopefully our next house will have cooler people around.

congrats on your new place.

That's very cool, gumby.
My current neighbors are part of the "Gran Turismo Generation," and I really don't like them. My parking lot is often full of Civics; it sounds like a farting contest on certain days.

I need some car guys around here, much less ones that know about these frequently-overlooked cars.  Nice!

I want to live in the middle of nowhere in the center of a 50 acre fenced in lot. I am not a people person

I could always fence off an area for ya, here.

good neighbors make a world of a difference....especially when your plow is buried with a broken axle....he comes by with his tractor, pulls ya out, plows your driveway, and leaves with no time for ya to say thanks.

Same here...  If these cars were a boot, none of my neighbors would know how to pour piss out of it, even if you told them the directions were on the heel...

Had a couple cool neighbors, but they both moved...

I guess I can't complain right now, I live in a house that has two apartments in it, but the lower unit is empty right now.

Nobody lives immediately to the one side of my place or behind me (just have a good size yard with lots of trees around it), there's a street and a few houses on the other side, but again some trees between me and them and they're quiet...and then my landlady lives across the street, but she never leaves her house.

I live in a nice quiet neighborhood, I like it.

It's a hell of a lot better than the dumbass roomies I had in my old place.

My neighbors on one side are really nice people, they have 5 or 6 kids, and they are all very well behaved. My neighbors on the other side have not spoken one word to us, even when I say hello, they just glare at me. They have 3 kids and they are all loud obnoxious monsters. My backyard is very private. Can't see the house behind me it is far enough away, and sitting on my back porch you can't see either of the houses next to me. I like it. At least no one calls the cops when I have my poker nights, Saturday we had about 23 cars total lining both sides of the street, and in my driveway, the driveway will hold about 6 cars, so that left 17 lining the street.

I think it'd be wiser to change "Gran Turismo Generation" with "Fast N Furious Generation"  I'm an avid GT fan and I'm not some ricer kid.  ;)
