auto ventshade headlight covers for 83-86 thunderbird... 37714

87-88 is a no go, they don't make them.

they have a listing for 89-93... 37500

they skip 94 and go straight to the 95-97... 37428

if you guys ever need any part numbers on aftermarket performance parts, let me know.  this is what i do for a living.

You think that is bad you should look them up for  the mn-12 cougars. I don't think they make them at all.

Not knocking you or anything, but the MN12 years make no sense.  89-90 headlights were the same, 91-95, and 96-97.

I love looking for parts and the listing says its good for 89-01, including the not-often-seen invisible 98.

honestly i didn't know that.  i don't know a whole lot about the mn12 body style.  i posted exactly what the auto ventshade catalog has written down for those years.

One of the more recent companies to make headlight covers was GTS, but they've since gone the way of the dodo. Since the trend itself has waned, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find them for any car.

When I had my first '86 Cougar GS, I decided to make some headlight covers for it. I took some black plexiglass (opaque) from an old dishwasher door and cut out two pieces to fit the inner lip of the headlight buckets.
After fabricating some L-shaped pieces with velcro to hold them in, I realized the setup wasn't strong enough.
I drilled four very small holes for each cover and bucket, then used some very small brass screws to hold them in.
Because the plastic was totally opaque, removing them at night was always a good time. I can remember using my hand to reflect light from the bumper light while I used a small screwdriver to take out the screws.
It was still worth it, though. They look great on a black car. I'll attach a picture of the car to illustrate my point. Just imagine black headlight covers on it (they were off when I took the picture).

Is it just me or do the GTS covers bulge out too much? It kinda lends a bug appearance to the front end. I installed them and didn't like the way it looked and took them off. Been sitting in the box for a couple years now.

89-93 headlamps are the same, then the fronts were facelifted for 94-95 then again for 96-97.

Ford did not make factory headlamp covers. IIRC they were offered as dealer installed accessories to compliment the special grille and aero rocker package that were also Ford accessories.
