83-86 or 87-and up need that important info but usualy just google 19xx ford thunderbird headlight covers....or there is this paint you can buy thats black/smoke colored made for headlights/tail lights light still shines through (not as bright mind you) and that is the cheap way out...hope i helped
a company with one of the most extensive product lines is Auto Vent Shade. let me know what year it is and i'll take a look tomorrow when i get to work. i'll give you a part number and you can buy it at oreily's.
Not to jack, but does ventshade make them for 83-6 modles? I'd like a set, and I don't wana have to make my own
i'll check when i get to work tomorrow.
Thank ya much
/end jack
auto ventshade headlight covers for 83-86 thunderbird... 37714
87-88 is a no go, they don't make them.
they have a listing for 89-93... 37500
they skip 94 and go straight to the 95-97... 37428
if you guys ever need any part numbers on aftermarket performance parts, let me know. this is what i do for a living.
You think that is bad you should look them up for the mn-12 cougars. I don't think they make them at all.
Not knocking you or anything, but the MN12 years make no sense. 89-90 headlights were the same, 91-95, and 96-97.
I love looking for parts and the listing says its good for 89-01, including the not-often-seen invisible 98.
honestly i didn't know that. i don't know a whole lot about the mn12 body style. i posted exactly what the auto ventshade catalog has written down for those years.
How much is a set for a 4 eye bird? And can you furnish a pic? I'm alitttle curious now
i actually don't sell to the public. i work for arrow speed warehouse... a warehouse distributor for retail stores. you can go to oreily's auto parts. they buy from me.
sorry, no picture.
its for an 88 turbo coupe just painted the car black and thought that it would lok shagy as hell with headlight covers
6.99 a can and makes the car useless at night.
But it looks so purrdy
it's from a company called V.H.T. the same people that make "track bite". it's called "night shade".
One of the more recent companies to make headlight covers was GTS, but they've since gone the way of the dodo. Since the trend itself has waned, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find them for any car.
When I had my first '86 Cougar GS, I decided to make some headlight covers for it. I took some black plexiglass (opaque) from an old dishwasher door and cut out two pieces to fit the inner lip of the headlight buckets.
After fabricating some L-shaped pieces with velcro to hold them in, I realized the setup wasn't strong enough.
I drilled four very small holes for each cover and bucket, then used some very small brass screws to hold them in.
Because the plastic was totally opaque, removing them at night was always a good time. I can remember using my hand to reflect light from the bumper light while I used a small screwdriver to take out the screws.
It was still worth it, though. They look great on a black car. I'll attach a picture of the car to illustrate my point. Just imagine black headlight covers on it (they were off when I took the picture).
87-88 GTS headlight covers part# gt0226s. I have a pair new in the box just waiting to be put on. Summit has them in stock.

Jim
sorry for dragging this thread up but figured since its on topic,
i have the chance to pick up some clear headlight covers for my thunderbird, im considering it but the guy states they are made by ford. did ford make optional headlight covers or were the only ones aftermarket?
I don't know if Ford made them, but they did sell them with the Ford name/logo on them.
When my dad first got the 84 back in '87, he had smoked headlight covers with the Thunderbird emblem on them, they were bad ass (for the time.)
Did you get them for a Turbo Coupe? They have unique inner marker lights.
yeah i figured it out thanks guys ill get some pics up as soon as my camera starts working again...
Is it just me or do the GTS covers bulge out too much? It kinda lends a bug appearance to the front end. I installed them and didn't like the way it looked and took them off. Been sitting in the box for a couple years now.
I'll take them off your hands =]
yo when i was cleaning out the trunk in my cougar i found some black GTS headlight covers.....can you say jackpot??
Well, I wouldn't just give them away. :D If I decide to sell them, I'll let you know.
Has anyone purchased from them? They say they are GTS ones, and summit ar is still on backorder. Just wondering before I place an order
Thanx
I bought mine from this company http://www.wadeauto.com/application.asp?ProdId=18&1=FORD&2=T-Bird&3=83-86
89-93 headlamps are the same, then the fronts were facelifted for 94-95 then again for 96-97.
Ford did not make factory headlamp covers. IIRC they were offered as dealer installed accessories to compliment the special grille and aero rocker package that were also Ford accessories.
Thanx Choog!
do you have to call these people and manually order them??
If I remember correctly,I ordered them online.I think they took about a week to get them.
Well, after looking at there webb site again,I dont see anywhere to place a order,so maybe I did call them.
You mean like these?::
Just saw this car at AZ today...invited him to the forums too. Don't think well see him though.
haha ur in luck i have a set for 87-88 cougars one is cracked but im epoxying back together and gts still makes them
Why would the birds be upside down?
Do you remember what you paid for those headlight covers?
do you remember what you paid for those headlight covers?

Perhaps the car is in distress? ;)
