Title: mmm Gravel in the teeth...
Post by: 87crzypssy on July 30, 2007, 05:24:47 PM
A few pictures i snapped while out getting the cat a bit dusty. Living in a county with over 500 miles of gravel roads leads to endless nights getting lost and findin my way back.

It takes balls to run asphalt sideways, it takes finess to run gravel sideways. most of the younger generation has little or no experience with, thus separating the men from the boys. You just cant do this stuff in a ricer... we all know it takes RWD,torque and a ton of stupidity.

Note the hillbilly on ramp, you can hit it either way, going to ashphalt or going off asphalt at 60 comfortably. Great way to scare your buddys that dont know the road, dive off inbetween the signs with arrows on them in a corner

Anyone else live on or near a good gravel road, let me know about it.

Im only 19, but I know how to handle a car on gravel roads. Try doing 120 on a gravel road, not by choice mind you, throttle stuck. Ricers can actually handle better on gravel, the front wheels wont let them slide around as much. But who cares. Fish tailing for 3 miles on gravel at 60 is nothing short of fun.

That is some crazy stuff. Yeah Miller county has lots of gravel roads. At least those are nice gravel roads. I live in STONE county if that give you any kind of idea what kinda of roads we have down here. py py gravel roads. Then the paved roads are very narrow and very curvy. By the way you have to turn right to Go left! That is the way of the dirt road racer. Live on my Missouri Brothern!

I prefer the gravel roads with ice and snow and 4 foot snowbanks on the sides.  That way you just bounce off when you slide too far.

Snow is fun too, just hell as far as the rust goes, i grew up in Oswego, NY which is right off of lake ontario, plenty of snow there. The warmer climate is much more suitable for my tastes though.

For most of the people that know the roads around here the back roads and gravel roads are mainly a way to avoid cops.

And yes, the ricers can do gravel. I made an attempt at a rally/gravel/ditch bangin car a few years back. 1987 Honda Accord 4 door with a gutted interrior, no hood or exhaust and pirelli snow tires. It was by far " faster " then my cougar but not nearly as much fun, nor did it take the skill to drive at some speeds. It would peg the speedo out at 130 on one of the big hills around here. Car just had no class though.

when i go see my mom in pike county (most of the roads in that region is gravel) and she lives on a well kept dirt road (b/c theres a quary if you go all the way down to take the only right.)  i'd say from the road to her driveway is 2 football fields and i'll at least switch sideshiznitting the dirt twice..  but one day i was pissed off and switched sides even having to use the brake, all the way into her driveway.  when i leave there, i usually switch sides 2 or 3 times.  it does take rwd on dirt roads b/c wiht RWD you can save yourself from trouble where FWD cars push really bad... which keeps the car slow.. but if your going through a blind sharp right hander thats off camber.  your ass ishiznitting a ditch with a FWD car.  i know... i did that shiznit.  said there was a deer..  the guys that drive up and down those roads in dump trucks and other types of trucks, they get pissed at me b/c i'll be sideways when they start comin out of thier gate and i'll throw rocks at them..  its kinda a battle thing.  if i check the mail makin me back into the road, they dont even slow down.  so i gotta do some movie RV to DRV quick to get out of the way.  they cant stop at that speed so i know they're tryin to hit me, but i do throw LOTS of rocks at them...  the only thing i hate about getting my bird sideways is i have 195's ont he front that are skinnier and taller than the rears so its JUST LIKE A GOKART. (195F 205R) so when i get it hung out there and not even OVER corecting my hands go from the top of the wheel to the 4 or 7 oclock positions..  just a 90 degree turn or switching sides in a streight line is what i do most b/c other than those, too much risk.  my car keep this nice layer of dust on it..  since it wont polish on the hood and driver fender i just spray it down or pray for rain.
