Check it out! Manual windows, manual locks, manual seats, manual mirror (no passenger side one!), no cornering lamps, base hubcaps, no cruise, no TILT!
Is that stripped enough for you? ;)
Thats right outside the CJ area, all them people at CJ right now should run over and pick it up. That car needs to be preserved.
I wonder what else it didn't get. Was a space saver spare an option? LOL just kidding.
The no-tilt column is a first for sure.
I still want to see one with the radio delete.
So I guess this one is not a candidate to be cut up?
And I was diggin' the short center dash.....
was front liscence plate bracket an option? i think whoever buys that car is lucky that seat belts werent an option in 87 cus i bet it wouldnt have them otherwise.
Me too, but then it would not be an option-less car since the radio delete is technically an option. ;)
This one does have at least one option though, the license plate bracket (option code #153).
Not sure what year T-Bird those wheel covers are, but they aren't the correct ones based on the sales order books.
Still it's strange when one with basically no options pops up.

Yeah it's definitely strange. The radio, heater, and license plate bracket were all $0 so that accounts for them. I don't know whether or not it has A/C, or whether A/C cost $. The no-tilt is something I didn't even know existed, which is pretty cool. The passenger mirror missing is fairly uncommon as well.
My girlfriend's Focus doesn't have a tilt wheel...hate it so much. I don't see how ANYONE (well anyone tall enough) can get by without it.
I still laugh inside whenever I see those manual window cranks. Looks so out of place in the car.
Bracket could have been added on later, but being an Ohio car I could have seen that coming from the factory.
I WON A HELICOPTER!!!
I WON A FREAKIN' HELICOPTER!!!
:D
a-bur-bur?
If it was an 8 I might
Tilt wheel was an option, realy. I knew the fron plate bracket was, but the tilt?
Mayhem????????
It's right there in Gray cloth, a no-tilt column , first one I've ever seen.
My '85 didn't have tilt, and come to think if it, I think my 88 Cougar didn't have it either.
My '85 also didn't have intermittent wipers. That's gotta be a rare one.
This car and the Med Red V6 I posted a few months ago both had non-intermittent wipers. Those are the only 2 I've ever seen, so yeah it's rare!
Wow is that ever plain jane thought mine was hardly optioned
My 83 doesn't have intermittent wipers.
Yeah but it doesn't have any power either... ;) LOL.
My '85 didn't have them too.
I'm not which heater you’re referring to. Are you talking about an engine heater? If so, that was a charge option.
Air conditioning was standard equipment.
A single driver side manually controlled mirror was standard. Dual electric mirrors were an option. (you could not get dual manual mirrors)
This is all pertaining to a base Thunderbird. If it were a LX model, the tilt wheel, and dual electric mirrors would be standard equipment.
Same with the delay wipers, optional on a base car, standard on the LX model

Nope, I present to you, dual manual mirrors:

And I was speaking of the in-car heater. I've seen at least 3 84-84's with no a/c from the factory, but I have no idea if a/c was standard on 85-88's.
A/C was optional on 85-88's in Canada. Pretty sure it was standard in the USA. Guess Ford figured that if we Canucks wanted to get cold we'd climb back into our igloos.
Also, the engine block heater and rear defrost were standard equipment in some areas, Eastern Canada being one of them.
Nope, as Brent said, you could NOT get factory dual manual mirrors.
Ford provided kits to add things that were deleted from factory cars. If you had the radio delete (with block-off plate for the radio hole and the antenna hole), Ford made available an antenna kit using OEM parts. Same went for the passenger side mirror. That car originally had only a driver's side mirror and a block-off plate on the passenger side, and then the aftermarket Ford mirror kit was installed on the passenger side sometime after purchase. Whenever you see two manual mirror adjusters in a car, that is the ONLY possibility.
Aaaaaaah I see said the blind man to his deaf dog :hick: Well there's a factory added double-manual mirror then :hick:
I'd imagine that the no-A/C 83-84's I've seen were either A: from Canada, or B: sols like that up here in the arctic tundra anyways. It was an 83 TC, an 84 TC, and an 84 elan 5.0, and I remember the Dark Blue elan having rear defrost.
My 86 didn't have tilt, or a passenger side mirror. aslo didnt have any power anything, no rear window defroster... And alot of things I can't thing of.
The only two options I figured on my car was the 5.0(I was told that a/c was standard on the 5.0 in the usa...) and some sort of towing package, only because I had the 10" rear brakes. Other then that, no options that I can think of.
That T-Bird's interior is a match to my '86 Cat which is a pretty close match to Haystacks car.
Mine has no rear defroster, no passenger mirror, no cruise, no tilt, manual mirrors, manual seats, manual locks, no map lights just a flat square dome light.
It just has an optional 5.0, 7.5 Traction lock and the TRX package.
Mmmm, no-option 5.0 Cougars... :D
I didn't say my car was no option ;)
Just that the interiors matched.
I will clearly admit that I don't think I've ever seen an '87-88 car that stripped. Usually I only see it on '83-86s.
A lot of you guys problems is you are comparing too may differnt years... What was std and optional surely changed almost, if not every year...
Guessing the '87-'88s will be similar if not the same... With models comming and going in the previous years, who really knows?? (OK Eric and a very few others probably do)
Air conditioning was an option on all Thunderbird trim levels from 1983-86. In 1987-88 it was made standard equipment on all trim levels.
