Ok, I've had this problem since I've owned the car, but never tried to solve it.
The Power locks on the drivers side door do not work. The Passenger side locks do work.
Let me explain further.
The power lock buttons on the drivers side door do nothing when pushed. No clicking, grinding, or anything. It's like they're dead.
The Passenger side buttons do work. But only lock/unlock that door.
I've also noticed that Keyless entry buttons seem to be dead as well, as the stock codes does not work, and the buttons do not light up.
Any ideas?
im not much of a help here, but on my keyless entry, when it was bone chilling cold in NC, after sitting for 6 hours the keyless entry wouldnt unlock my driverside (would have to crawl in through the passenger side) i think that over time our keypads and door locks that get the most use seize up or get weak, and then one day... nothing. might need to get the elctronics in the door replaced. (could be loose wires?)
Not a clue on the keyless buttons but for the interior door lock buttons. Sometimes the back side plastic piece cracks and that has enough give to make them not make a connection. Had it happen to me. It is something to check.
I'd look at the wires going between the car and the door. Those wires bend every time the door is opened and closed and can break over time. Since both the door lock motor and the door lock switches don't work that'd be my prime suspect.
Well, I pryed the plastic thing containing the Lock Buttons off the door and found that the electrical connector was just dangling, not connected to anything. I hooked it back up, and have now stumbled onto another problem. The buttons work just fine. Except the drivers side door doesn't lock. They do lock the passenger side door, but the drivers side is unaffected.
Lock motor bad?
(Checked the wires between the door and body, and they were fine)
Maybe since the key pad was unhooked the lock motor is unhooked too. Check that. ALso if it is plugged in use a test light to see if it is getting power at all. If it turns out to be the lock motor go get one from the salvage yard. The ones from most fords will work just need to pull the T-bird arm and put it in the new/used unit. You can buy a new mustang unit at the parts store for about $35-$40.
