Why... you can still tell it's a T bird from the sides... ALL that work and I just feel it doesn't match. I like the idea but they could have chosen a better base for it. I'm not knocking the idea or even the work done.... I just don't like it on an MN12
I like it! Not to enough to part with my cash, but I like it.
TED
that's pretty cool, but it just doesn't do it for me.
Not my thing to many off angles. I call it and EAZYBLOB! its so easy to make your car look like a blob! EEEEEAZYBLOOOOOB!
Wow they killed that car!!..
There's an "H" on the front grille. A Hudson?!
If the lines were more smooth and it didn't look like a hack job (rear end area) I would like it better.
At least it makes sure some MN12 cars get saved form rust and that people can still customize them in many ways not saying i like it a whole lot i do like it i just hate cars that sit and rust for years 2 come.
Dear God....
Its a waste of money yes but good reason to get a full paint job.
Sorry
i think it's the front end that makes it look so bad... from the front it looks ok, but from the side and off angle from the front, the front quarters angle too steeply to the ground.... it's almost a straight line from the tali lights to the wipers than it looks like the front end washiznit and pushed to the ground...... 10 points for creativity, but -4 for final product
i agree 100% with you i have seen about 30 on EBAY no matter the color any off angle picture of this car looks bad so i want 2 see this car on PIMP MY RIDE if you can make anything look good go right ahead. Wonder if with a after market hood it could change the look enough to save it it some what? no ones tried that yet and with the prices of that body kit when it came out i know why.
They've been around for a while and the company that makes them has a website. The pictures make them look better than they actually are IMHO.
I would never be that desperate to have a car.
It's a "8" for eight cylinders... The sixes had a "6"... It's original to the '49 & '50 Fords
Gee you guys don't like it HUH??? Been thinkin of getting a kit for my '95...
I just don't think you guys like the 1950 Ford. I like the originals and I think this is okay also.

I've seen one up close. I wouldn't do it. From an owner's standpoint, you're still experiencing an mn12 bird in the driver's seat.....boring. A real 1949 coupe, now from the driver's seat, you're experiencing a thrill because you are sitting in a piece of history, per se. From a spectator's view, the head-on look is good, but the off angles and sides are too noticeable, as was said above. But I'm a traditional rodder, so my opinion may be a bit skewed.
I actually like the concept, but not the car it's executed on. The "greenhouse" area of the MN12 is simply too tall to look right on anything intended for a street rod. Most street rods have chopped roofs, that MN12 has just the opposite. Chopping the MN12's roof wouldn't even solve the problem because the greenhouse extends too low. Street rods should have slab sides and chopped roofs. If you look at the pic below you see what I mean - there is just too much glass area on the sides of the car.
I'd sure like to see that kit executed on an 87-88 Cougar, though...
Actually the Cougar roofline is all wrong for a '49/'50... A '87-'88 Bird would be sweet...
Tom
Actually HAVI that "you're experiencing a thrill" from an original, is because your sitting in 5000 lb of steel with sloppy king pin fount suspension with manual steering and 4 wheel manual drum brakes.
It's also at times referred to as Fear! Boring can be good at times.
I like it but like Ted said "not enough to part with my cash"
it looks ok from some angles. the door handles need to be shaved, roof altered, lowered, chrome wheel trim, and side pipes gone, and possibly a loovered hood, and that would help a bit IMHO
WOW a '49 that weighs 5000lbs???
Try more like 3200...
But otherwise I agree completely...
I've seen a few that were done to totally stock apperance and they actually look pretty good...
im sure some have i ment to that one, ive never seen anything like that before.
I hate those conversions. But they still look better than the hideous conversion they do to third gen Camaro's to turn them into street rod's.
that sounds bad enough ive never seen one though
I was thinking more of the nostalgia factor, but yeah, fear can be worse than boring. I'm eager to know this when my '48 gets on the road.
not bad, the nose needs to be longer... the roof needs chopped... and the arse end needs finished.
For that car, it needs at least 400hp to be considered cool.
I must add that rolling down a hill in a 51 GMC truck with no brakes and the tranny stuck between gears is a much more memorable ride than riding in a EaZYBLOB!
wow, ive never seen one that hadnt been lowered... they look even worse at stock height.
Good Lord!
