it has been along time since i did anything with this car. i built this car back when i was still in high school and i am 33 now. so it has been a while since i did anything with it. well about 10 years ago or so, i did rebuild the 351, new tires. but i really didn't drive it any. i ran out of money, and lost my drivers licence, and had a baby, and well you know all the things that get in the way. anyway so tonight at 10pm i decided it was time to dust it off and do something with it. it was the first car i ever owned and i still love it. i have been reading on here on/off for some time now, and that is what gave me the enthusasim to get it going again.
anyway it is an 1984 cougar, rebuilt 1969 351, 4x, long tube headers(not currently on car, interfered with shifter linkage). aftermarket tires and wheels, power seats, mirrors, windows. and i am sure a few other things i have forgetten. ohh, and a nice size bumble bee nest in the rear tailight. and they are none two happy of my new found interest in the car. i am on my way to the 24 hour wallmart right not to buy some bee killer. i am really scared of them for some reason. they are big, make a nasty buzzing sound, and look like they might hurt.
anyway here are some pictures. hope to get it cleaned up a bit, and take some new pictures.

here are the long tube headers that i hope to utilize, although i have heard that they don't work with the aod trany. i hope this is not true, as i really like them, i have them, from what i rememner is they were really expensive. they were 351 mustang swap headers. i have had them on the car before, and from what i remember they fit, but it was very tight around the trany. the problem was i was unable to shift, and at the time i didn't have the money to get a floor shifter, so i went back to the stock exhaust manifolds.

Not bad. Alittle cleaning goes a long way
Well theres a project for you! I like it, just needs some blood, sweat, tears and of course money!
Welcome to the site! What happened to the rear taillights anyway?
angry women i think. it was a while back. my memory is fading.
Ah I see.
women, always mad because we already found our Cougars lol.
Lol yeah well nice lookin project you got going got potential
Looking good, glad to see it getting some TLC.
I'm considering putting my 85 T bird back in service. I want to put RHO 302 into it. Engine bay has much more room than my 64 Comet. I'm considering setting the engine back, hoping to gain some weight distribution. I intend to drive it year round, and have to deal with snow in Minnesota. I really like the handling of these cars. How does your car handle, with the extra weight? Did you change front springs? I have a V6 in it now. I will be using a carb set up. I'm tired of front wheel drive and computer controlled engines. I want something I can drive and fix myself. Hope to get some fair gas mileage out of it too. It has a 70 C4 tranny already in it, of course I'll have to set that back as well, I no longer have to deal with lock up converter issue that the C5 had.
Looks like a real good project ya got there. Don't be in too much of a rush and it'll turn out great :D Welcome to the board too
John
Just throw some duct tape over the light holes until they're dead.Good project car.Like stated above, take your time. Also, work up a good plan of attack and gather all your info. It'll make the work that much easier.Good luck and keep us posted.welcome aboard.
one more engine picture. i got to looking around in the trunk and found this dual snorkle air intake. must be off a 85 mustang, that i intended on using. now if only it said 5.8 instead of 5.0.

Looks like you have a nice start their. Take your time and it'll turn out great.
7 years later and still no progress...... I need some motivation.....
Are the bees dead yet? :mullet:
C'mon man, get busy on that car. We'd all love to see it running. Especially me. I have always wanted a 351w swapped fox cougar. You are 85% there, looks like. As LTCG would say "Get 'er done!"
