Well, here's what I think for the Portland meets at PIR. August 3rd and 4th is in 3 weeks and should be good for a go. I'll even try to have Layla back out with a new rear main.
They close early this year, so if we want to do a #3 or a "big" meet with everybody, August 31st/September 1st will be our last chance. (Their closing night is Sept 14/15, but the last meet is always a ZOO).
So what do you guys think?
Last meet we had 4 members and 3 cars on the first night and 3 members with 2 cars on the second night. New bests were set in John's GTO, Ted's Caddy-Bird, Jim's TBird, and Layla.
I think your track closes too early... We race up past Thanksgiving and till mid Dec a couple years ago...
They usually don't close until mid-October. They're closing early for a re-pave this year.
aero....... ill see what i can do to make it up there for at least a day i did figure out my factory weights 3304 lbs with bout 7/8ths tank and my fat butt in there. figure if i run it with 1/4 tank or less i outta be round 3200 :-d but ill see what i can do to be there btw check your pm's
I'll likely show up, but no runs
No need to run. It's only $8 to watch and we can all park together for some cool photo ops.
We'll see. If anything goes right, I may have a replacement motor before the end of August, most likely used with some light work put into it. Then the tranny leak is a simple seal I believe.
hey mike whats the price to run again? i get paid ont he 3rd at 2 lmao guess it will be there when i get back eh?
$23 to race, $8 to watch. Gates open at 6 on both days.
i most certainly hope thats 6 pm... :-p aint an early riser. what kind of motel/hotel rates we lookin at in the area? or do i get to sleep in my car :-p i just put in my request for those days off
There's a cheap $21 motel just off I-5 in Vancouver :p
6PM to midnight
hey, sounds like fun! i might take a run up there, its only a 2 hour and 30minute drive. who is going to run there car there?
I am as of now. Guess we need a role call?
if i can get my posi and gears installed by that time, i'll race, but i got to get $350 more.
I really do not know if I'm going to make it or not Mike. I'm doing my best to improve the fuel system and I have parts coming but they are not coming fast enough. Going to pull the tank and put in the rear sump. Also put in a nitrous enrichment tank up front. Things are coming together but maybe not by early August.
I want to go but I want to make sure I take care of the 1000' bog first. The last time out was a big disappointment.
Sorry.
TED
ill be there i requested the days off from work....... but mike... how bout i call you while i make a pass lmao ill be slow enough to have a convo.
Ted,
No biggie, remember we are planning an Aug 31/Sept 1 meet as well. And then there's the Ford Weekend at Woodburn, but that's even further south.
Intimidator,
I should fix my truck, then we could play Battleship or Poker while we drag race :hick:

Thanks
TED
Ted,
AWESOME!!!! I actually have to go to Portland early for a doctor's appointment, so just meet us there. I'm going to call the track tomorrow to find out if they are opening at 5 or 6.
I'm hunting for 13's :D

well im hoping for 18's :-p just to be number 1 hehehe
We're gonna get you there ;)
hey... no stripping my parts mike :-p i may still need a windshield, trunk lid, hood etc :-p
It just a personal game, does not matter what you run. The question is can you beat your own personal best. There will always be someone faster than you.
All for fun.
TED
No kidding! don't get him going too fast he will beat my bird with it's 17.5's
Don't worry Jim, I'll bring universal's this time :D And anything I can get away with taking out/off of his car I can do to yours too :hick:
Am I the only one here whose car drools oils continuously?
No, mine does too. I'm just going to run it without oil... :hick:
I've got some sort of rear main seal thing going on and the rings are not happy. They just never "set" right. I should still get 3 passes hopefully...
I have a few "tricks" to try to keep it under control. The sad part is the rate of loss is about 1 drip per 10 seconds while running, which really isn't that bad. I lose maybe a quart between oil changes (3000 miles).
Every 1000 miles it gets 1, oh yeah!
lmao yall hoots but that should make it all fun this weekend huh
Gates open at 5PM tonight, see you all there!
I'm leaving Olympia at 4:00 so that should put me there 6:30 to 7:00 but I will see you there.
New fuel system, new hood emblems, fun plates, and 10" wheels with slicks. I will see what will happen.
TED
Well that picture of the scoop emblem did not come out at all, maybe this one will. They came from the front fenders of a 72 Eldorado.
TED
lol, that car is so freak'n cool! A 500ci caddy motor!!!! Man, I got to see pics of the install in that beast. That car is going to rock at the strip and have people turning and scratching their heads at the same time. Good luck! Many kudos on the mods!
Well I'm a no show on Friday at least (Saturday MAY work out) things with the inspector went better than planned actually. OK'ed my framing and gave the go ahead to insulate. Is now 8:24 and I'm itchy as all hell not to mention had to bring th truck home as I need some sheetrock for the morning projects.
Sorry guys, just wasent meant to be this time.
I made it to the 12's best run;
rt .135, 60' 1.832, 1/8 8.285@84.45, 1/4 12.935@105.54
Will be there tonight also to try to do better yet. Was pretty busy last night and I got there late, so I only got in 5 runs and no tuning. My new fuel system worked perfect with no bogs so tonight I'm going to try to richen it up a bit.
Thanks Mike for calling these events.
TED
EVERYBODY COME TONIGHT!!!
Ted and I will both be there as will Intimidator. Matt and Jim, you two better show!
OK boys, sit down, grab your asprin, and get ready. Layla made the 14's! AND didn't get kicked out of tech at ALL!
Now that you've had a few minutes, the Portland #2 Meet went great until I had to leave early for a bachelor party (which also went great ;) ). I made 8 passes in 2 hours, netting 3 14 second runs.
Best:
60' - 2.333
1/8 - 9.484@74.71
1/4 - 14.767@92.06
Backed that up with a:
60' - 2.243
1/8 - 9.526@74.12
1/4 - 14.872@90.56
Not bad for 85* heat! I'm of course going back tonight, for all night (6-12) to try to bring it lower. I was playing with fuel pressure and boost all night (ended up at 19psi and 47# fp). I'll update after tonight, so restock on your medications!
;) :D
Working on it. Packing up the house so depending on its timeline...
I need to pull the pictures from last night
Tonight was bad, I broke it :( Starter is fragged (no big deal, I have 3 spares) but so is the clutch. It's hanging up on itself big time! RAM is going to get a SERIOUS talking to! Stupid clutch has 8000 miles and 20 passes and it's shot in a 14 second car.
Tomorrow I have to change the starter so I can get to school on Monday. I have to check the SC50 too, it made some weird noises, though that could have been the clutch. That stupid clutch better hold it together for another 10 days until summer break.
Ted's fuel pump hiccuped and intimidator's alternator destroyed his battery, again. I had to abandon everybody (and the door panels) just to make it home!
Fuel pump is not really the problem, apparently the rear sump pick-up I put in is going dry while braking at the end of the track, making a bubble and running dry. This was the last two runs at the end of the day. The fuel system is not perfect yet.
Did not make it in the 12's last night but I did have a bunch of low 13 passes.
I had a lot of fun racing and meeting everyone; thanks Mike for putting this on.
TED
Here's a few pics.
Thanks for coming Ted, we'll start working on the next one right away.
Here's some interesting gifs in the meantime, before I go through the pictures.

Now that is pretty cool!
TED
hey guys, sorry i couldnt make it up there, i had football practice. but when is the other get together?
well...... looks like i did more damage than just a battery lol...... when i got to work today it was dumping transmission fluid out of the bellhousing. How ever the best pass came with a R/T -.055 (yeah yeah yeah only red light i had and it was my FIRST time drag racing) 2.718 60' 18.996 @ 72.39 mph altho my best r/t was .011 for my 2nd pass... that best time came from 5th pass and was backed up with a 19.007 run for the last pass of the night. I do want to thank mike, ted, and seek (keep forgetting ur name) for helping out and it was fun being able to hang out hope i can get time off to do it again. Eric
Eric,
Get her back together! Post up the 1/8 mile times from your slip too so I can add you to the Top 25.
Matt,
Build your new engine!!!!
Ted,
Where's your 12 slip??? :D:D:D
ok mike the complete 1/4 mile pass for the 18.996 run is this
R/T -.055 60' 2.718 300' 0.000 1/8th 12.197 @ 57.45 mph 1000' 0.000 1/4 18.996 @ 72.39 mph
Mike ill also send you scans of the time slips as well as soon as i get some time im going to be really busy with this whole trans issue but they are scanned in on this computer.
sincerely,
Eric
Added ;)
If I had time, then I would
I posted a picture under top 25. Or why not here also.
TED
Depending on scheduling, I may be able to get a 90k engine with all the mass air parts for $550, it'd hold me over until I have the downtime to run a newly built motor. I figure a spare block would be $100, mass air sensor, ecu, tubing could be anywhere from $100-150. $300 for the rest of the running parts isn't too bad, depending on compression numbers.
How about this one.

Saw that, they haven't gotten back to me on my questions (email or voicemail)
