My '88 XR-7 that is.  And I have already started to personalize it.  The pictures dont show the custom touches, but it is raining now and I cant get a good pic.  These pics of it stock will tide you's over.;)

This car is in amazing shape, :cougarsmily: I actually feel bad taking it from him for the price I paid for it.  You could tell he didn't want to sell it. But his wife was making him :(  Time to start fixing it up!  It has a working Traction loc too. ;)

That's in great shape! Dangit, now seeing yours has me gitty about mine again. Wish I could drive it to work tomorrow. :(

Have fun keeping those white turbines clean. Mine used to look that good after I refinished them but I've let them go a bit.
I suggest hosing them off after every trip. Oh and a screwdriver wrapped in a rag works very well around each of those nubs.

thanks for the comments guys.  I am still shocked at the shape this thing is in.  It is by far the best condition car I have ever had.  I love it already, and I have never really like this style cougar.  As for keeping the front rims clean of brake dust...  It is a none issue;)  It has dust shields behind the rims.:D

Here are a couple of quick pics on what I did today as soon as I got home with it.

Quickly cleaned the inner fenders in the engine bay as they were covered in under coating:
before:

After:

And added a Ford Motorsport decal, and 5.0L Badges:

they might look good on the underside of the hood an trunk.

Problem being, insulation, trunk liner, cross frame supports. Cut it all out!

Meh, I like them, just fine where they are.  It is a tribute to the memory of my White '88 Stang LX coupe.

I was hoping since it was an XR7, you would keep it in original condition. Yes, no, just curious.
Car is absolutely gorgeous. I really think white is one of the best colors for the 87-88's.

Well I wont be doing anything that isn't easily reversable, but I am going to do it up.  I will be doing the HO swap, adding a shift kit, 4.10 Gears and many more things.  But I will be keeping the original parts just in case.

Dust shields pshhh. I thought about them and should have gotten a set but never did. Now I wish I had.
The 5.0 badges are a nice touch. That is one of the first things I did to mine. They'll be removed though in favor of a new project I'm slowly working on.

I was going to keep mine stock but since my car has high miles, has been in an accident in the past, no longer holds original paint, changes are-a-comin'. Besides, other than the motor and now TC hood, it's pretty much been in stock form since I got it 6 years ago. Time for a change.

Yeah...I remember all too well how friggin SILENT my stinkin' car was with the stock exhaust. Rev it up? Don't bother, it sounded like a vacuum cleaner!!! I felt like I was driving a beast chained up, pining for freedom. Then I cut off the rusty ler for until I did my dual exhaust, and the beast was FREED!!! I remember driving to work the next day listening to it roar. (keep in mind this is y-pipe, cats, SINGLE 2.25 and all, sans ler and tailpipe :hick:) but that was enough for me I was in love!!!!

It IS impressive though how quiet it is stock, sometimes that CAN be nice actually. Makes it seem more well-built and luxurious :D .

Yeah man that interior is really nice and clean looking. Inspiring me to clean up my bird this weekend. Just finally got her out of the shop after a month of sitting there collecting dust when I got the mustang. :(

Man I just got back from driving the t-bird.  What a difference.  The bird definatley has a tough sound to it, but the Cougar seems so luxurious as you said.  Now I dunno what I want, LOL.

Beautiful car.Man,that thing is great.I agree, ditch the decals.they take away from the looks of the car.If it's in memory of another car,I'd get a smaller one for the rear window, but not on the body like that. The interior is beautiful.Nice score.

Yeah I know, it wasn't the proper colour, but it still looks ok.  The hood still needs a little more work to be perfect yet, but I haven't got the time to finish it right now.

You know what would make that hood look perfect? Vertical slats to replace the mesh. That would tie it in with the grille all that much better. Nice work. The cowl has more rake than I'd have gone with (who am I kidding, I never liked cowls) but the fab work is pro.

kinda looks like a ramp with scoops in it but i still love the idea of it. i have desided that im never going to like a cowl on our cars because none of the meet my standards of how i want them too look and i will never get one done if i try to make one cause ill never be happy with my work. the slants might look good... might bring too much 80's into it though, just my opinion

Yep, it is from ebay.  I had a line on it way before he put it up on ebay, just didn't have the cash, he called me after he put it up and offered it to me for a good deal, but someone had placed a bid on it.  I placed my bid and nobody offered another bid, so I got it.

Best thing I have done this summer.  I will be pulling the motor soon and swapping in the HO.  I got my ass handed to me by a '94 4.6L Cougar lastnight, so I cant let that happen again. LOL.

I actually think it would be a nice complement to the hood.

It totally detracts from the lines of the car.

Been thinking about it, but I am waiting to find a nice spare trunk lid incase I dont like it.

Yeah I will be there Chris, gotta show you this thing in person.

I will probably make just a plain cowl hood for it soon see how that looks.
